The proverbial train wreck that is Lindsay Lohan is in trouble again, this time for an alleged hit-and-run that happened early this morning near a downtown hotel.

At about 12:30 a.m. today, Lohan, who is on probation for stealing jewelry, was parking her Porsche Cayenne near an alley by the Maritime and Dream hotels in Lower Manhattan when she allegedly hit the knee of a 30-year-old man.

TMZ reports that a passenger in the troubled starlet's car actually got out of the vehicle to check for damages, a claim Lohan's camp denies, saying that she didn't realize she'd hit anyone until nearly two hours later, after she'd left the scene and gone to her hotel.

The alleged victim called 9-1-1 and was taken to Bellevue hospital complaining of knee pain.

At 2:30 a.m., police were knocking on Lohan's door at the hotel, where she was given a desk-appearance ticket for leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury.

Lohan, as you might know, has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. For now, however, authorities won't say whether alcohol was involved.

The new allegations could potentially land Lohan back in jail -- as we mentioned, she is on probation. However, the past two times she has been sentenced to time in the joint, she was quickly released due to jail overcrowding.
