Barack Obama Depicted As a Witch Doctor In Is It Racist?

Is it racist?
A business owner in New Jersey is catching a lot of shit lately over a display in front of his store that depicts President Barack Obama as a witch doctor.

The display -- in front of the Skuby & Co. Lifestyle Clothing company in Spring Lake --  shows the president's face superimposed on the body of a witch doctor. Underneath the image is the word "ObamaCare."

It also includes a tombstone with a picture of Obama holding a stethoscope with the words, "I Told You I Was Sick" written on it. There's also a mannequin wearing a hat with the acronym "F.Y.B.O.," presumably meaning "fuck you, Barack Obama."

Some people like the display, while others find it offensive -- some even say it's racist.

The owner of the business, Bill Skuby -- who touts the fact that the "1 percent" shops at his store -- is actually proud of the minor buzz his display has garnered.

"I'm not backing down. I don't care what they do. I've had a black group call me a little while ago, they are going to picket me. Fine. Picket me all you want," Skuby told 1010 WINS. "Maybe I can get a customer out of the deal. But the truth of the matter is, this is the way I feel and we've got to stand up for what we feel. And at my age, I'm taking a stand, and that's just the way it is."

In the spirit of Tosh.0, we want to know what you think: Is it racist?

That sign is not racist. Obama is of the ancestry of the Negro African witch doctors, and because of the greatest country that ever was, i.e. America, a Negro  of the ancestry of the witch doctor had the opportunity to learn English, become civilized and go on to be a U.S. Senator and the President. But that does not give Obama or anyone else of African ancestry or any ancestry the authority to pass or sign unconstitutional legislation. Obama care is repugnant to the U.S. Constitution.

For those that think we as a country have evolved on the subject of race relations, the  elections of 2008, 2010 and 2012 have exposed the dark underbelly of bigotry and racial hatred that still exists under a thin veneer of tolerance that exists in for many people in this country. Simply try reading the comments section on any media article about the presidential election to see some of the most vile racism, you'd think we were back in the 50s. More troubling that there are people like this business owner who thinks it's acceptable to put a photoshopped picture of Obama in a witch doctor's outfit in front of his store is acceptable. While he may have that right under the Constitution, it's still disturbing that he represents the tip of the iceburg in the real right-wing worldview.
