Why, yes.
Don't Hassel the Hoff, the old wisdom goes. A 36-year-old Shelton, Connecticut convenience store clerk, heeding the warnings of our forebears, tried to stop a man from stealing signs with images of David Hasselhoff off of a pole and was seriously injured in the process.

The Cumberland Farms clerk saw a man loading the signs--which advertised the sale of Cumberland Farms' "Iced Hoffee"--into an SUV, but was then struck and dragged by the getaway vehicle.

Police are still searching for the car, but a 19-year-old man has admitted to being the driver. No arrests have been made yet.

Hasselhoff released a statement expressing sadness and support for the would-be hero, who is still in the hospital in critical condition.

The Iced Hoffee signs have become something of a collector's item among people who think that sort of thing is funny. Over 550 of the signs have been stolen since the ad campaign began a year ago.
