This gripe may have been stale in 1998, but movie trailers are so packed with exposition and narration nowadays that audiences expect the film to be ruined long before it opens at their local theater. This is partly why there's so much excitement surrounding Alfonso Cuarón's upcoming film Gravity.

All the promotional material has been spartan and mysterious, and people may actually have to see the movie to find out what happens.

Well, unless they follow novelist Bret Easton Ellis on Twitter.
