Verrazano Bridge, Staten Island Side
For the second time in two days, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is the site of a possible suicide attempt. A call that there was a jumper on the bridge came in at 12:30 p.m., says a source at the Fire Department.

Update: The potential jumper is now in NYPD custody. The man appears to be in his 50s and lives in Brooklyn. Traffic has been restored on the bridge, according to the MTA website.

FDNY confirmed to Runnin' Scared that there is someone on the Verrazano, but that they have not received any reports of someone jumping. No transports have been dispatched into the river.

An MTA spokeswoman confirmed to Staten Island Advance that police had been dispatched to the scene. All lanes on the Verrazano have been closed in response to the incident.

This is the second jumper situation at Verrazano this week. On Sunday, a man severely injured himself jumping from the bridge. He later succumbed to his wounds at Staten Island University Hospital. Late last night, the man's identity was confirmed as Michael Caiazzo, 29, an electrician from South Beach, Staten Island.

No word yet on whether the two incidents are connected.
