After SUV Attack, the Internet Thinks All Hollywood Stuntz Motorcycle Gang Members Are "Pussy" "Terrorists" Who Deserve to Die

A still from the Hollywood Stuntz Times Square block party video

Update, 10:15 a.m.: More information has emerged on a Brooklyn man alleged to be the founder of Hollywood Stuntz. Jump to the last page for that, and another video of a possible Stuntz ride.

Earlier this week, a disturbing video began circulating of a brutal incident between a man named Alexian Lien and multiple members of a motorcycle crew called the Hollywood Stuntz. As far as we can tell, the chain of events looks something like this: Lien, with his wife and two-year-old daughter, was driving in a black Range Rover behind a massive group of riders on the West Side Highway, when one of them, Christopher Cruz, stopped short in front of him. Lien hit the back of Cruz's bike. Cruz and several other riders got off their bikes and started to approach his car. Lien accelerated and drove away, running over another rider, Edwin "Jay" Mieses. Several more riders followed Lien to Washington Heights, where police say he was pulled from the car and beaten, sustaining two black eyes and needing stitches to his face and chest. His wife and child escaped unharmed. Mieses' family says he is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Meanwhile, the Internet has discovered more YouTube videos of the Hollywood Stuntz's other rides, most of them pretty tame compared to Monday's violent melee. In the past 24 hours, the number of views have skyrocketed. Public sympathy isn't on their side: Many of the comments on the videos call the riders "terrorists," use a variety of racial and homophobic slurs, and suggest they should be raped in prison until they die.

The video getting the most views is the one you see above, from the Hollywood Stuntz 2012 "Block party" ride in Times Square. The video was uploaded on August 24 of last year, and until this week, it had only been looked at a handful of times. Then the attack happened, and now the number of views looks like this:

Hollywood_Stuntz_Times_Square_pageviews.jpg

Almost all of the comments refer to the West Side Highway attack. "These people are all terrorists," writes one viewer. Referring to Mieses, he adds, " He is the douchebag that got ran over and put in a wheelchair thank God for justice."

"FAGGOTS," writes another guy. "Beating a father in front of his wife and child? FUCK ALL YOU FAGGOTS."

cruz and his pussy gang of bikers put himself in that situation. Cruz started it, and

These low life biker scumbags give true motorcyclist a bad name.

there's a real sociological reason as to why this particular story has skyrocketed into the national public subconscious, and - yep, yep, yep - it has to do with ETHNICITY. the real reason why this one particular story has taken over headlines is because LAW-ABIDING NON-THUG CITIZENS have all been victims on the roads of this sort of thing, so people all over the nation are taking an interest because at one point or another they probably felt like they might have to drive away in fear for their life, and - yep, yep, yep - once again it has to do with ETHNICITY. does anyone really believe the asian guy was the aggressive driver here? no. everyone knows who's at fault, and that's the reason why the public wants to speak out - because many people in the public have had to deal with THUGS - we all know who - on the road who drive out of their mind. oh, and no i don't feel bad about mieses. he got what he deserved.

These subhuman Black MOB terrorists should be in jail, Driving privileges suspended. They are the trouble makers, agitators. I see this as attempted murder against the poor Asian man being with wife and child, innocent decent family. Vile, Evil Racist demonic Negro band of would be murderers for fun and intimidation of anyone who is not black. Filthy dumb Packs of dirt should be placed incarcerated in fema camps. They are far too dangerous to be running loose in civilized society.

The most looked at video no question is the one of the attack.  Really?

This is a racist gang.  That isn't even up for debate if you ask me... although since it's social taboo to consider that blacks could be racist we're not talking about it.  And  yes... these thugs are terrorists... and yes... if they were executed I wouldn't have a problem with that.  The overwhelming majority of the country seems to agree.

Police need to clamp down on this group. They were 100% at fault, barring further authoritative information otherwise. These kinds of things have a way of escalating if left unchecked. Their idea of a block party is all out on the street - it has no personal quality to it. Bogus.

they are indeed morons and threatening public safety.   who the fuck they think they are. all cars and people need to slow down and stop for them?

They were messing with him then pulled right in front of him and hit the breaks then they get pissed go after him so he does what he has to so he can protect his family. Then it takes over 100 wanna be badasses to chase him. He should of ran over a lot more of them. Try to pull a man out of his vehicle in Texas and see if you get away with it.

Those bikers brought the accident unto themselves, they're not supposed to be on the streets without driving licence and most motor cycle use false plate in the 1st place ! people who think it's the driver's fault is insane, and I hope they were put in the same situation with their wife and 2 yrs old kid

Alex: and you're also claiming that Lien had a murderous streak in him ("admittedly arrogant" as you put it). I doubt that very much. If your car is under attack by road-raging psychos, would you get out of the car & try to reason with the attackers?

Tom Trinchera
Tom Trinchera

Alex: please don't take this personally but you're quite ignorant of the facts in the video. Cruz didn't give Lien any time to react appropriately as a driver of a much larger & heavier vehicle. And Cruz STILL, as is evident in the video footage, deliberately provoked Lien into a very dangerous situation. And I'm not saying that Mieses being injured was justified in any way, but he was part of a mob that wrongly thought they were entitled to take over a major, high-trafficked highway. Read some of the news stories that have police commentary. Instead of calmly trying to resolve the situation, the gang turned psychotic & attacked a family. It was THEN that the chase happened & Mieses got run over.

I have had a pack of drivers on a lone road at night, in Louisiana, "box me in", beginning at speeds of 60 mph and forcing me down to 30 mph, with no one on the highway ..... I absolutely took it seriously and as a deadly game.

Where I come from, with the Castle Law, the bikers would have been dead the second they touched my car with my family in it.  No questions asked.

Yes, the Hollywood Stuntz are not some generalized "other" that can be written off by race or sexual orientation.   There does seem to be a class element to their identity, though, given their choice of target and also given the questionable public comments by the paralyzed boy's (no, even at 32, he is not a man) mother, aunt, and wife.

So, yes, it is unenlightened for people to just throw out homophobic or racial slurs at them.

People are using these words because we do not know the bikers as individuals--just as masked, helmeted men on bikes with stolen plates, who are protecting each others' identities when questioned by the police.

If only the bikers would let us get to know them as individuals--if only they would come out of hiding, and own their own actions (rather than blame Lien, make excuses, or try to justify themselves), THEN we could stop hating them as "the other" and start hating them for who they really are.

brad_s_hall

What is the point of Anna Merian (if that is who you really are!) writing this blog when--judging by the comments below--no one read it.   She didn't argue who was right or wrong in the incident, she was commenting on the homophobia and racism in some (some!) of the public outrage.

..and that is what I intend to comment on...

Yes I saw a 4000 lbs SUV first pushing its way through admittedly arrogant and not very nice biker simply slowing down in front of it (he is at fault by NY law, slowing drown is permitted without explanation needed, rear ending is not), fleeing the scene of the accident (felony) then deliberately running over a bike and a human on it (aggravated assault), fleeing the scene (felony) and then finally getting his ass kicked very mildly, no paralysis involved, with his family unharmed confirming that his fears for their safety were exaggerated at best. Did I miss anything? I have to admit that if I see someone run a person over on purpose and flee I may just chase him and beat him up. Call me a terrorist if you want.

Tom Trinchera
Tom Trinchera

Indeed, NY law suggests that but this is NOT a case of "his word against his". There is a video clearly showing Cruz acting in a belligerent manner & deliberately trying to stop Lien. Period. If there hadn't been any vid of the incident & what led up to it, then I'd have a different opinion about it & I wouldn't have taken this stance. The NY Police had problems with bikers just like this last yr when they swarmed Manhattan & disrupted traffic (which is already a big problem there) & thought they were entitled to take over the roadways. Also, Cruz has a few other charges pending so things don't look very good for him. As far as the kid getting run over, it's tragic BUT the swarm of bikers around Lien's car were attacking it with helmets that had been turned into weapons & they pulled knives on him too. Lien was trying to get outta there any way he could & Mieses was unfortunately PART of the gang & got in the way. In almost every car in a panic situation like this one, you can't see everyone around your car or under it.

Alex Nadolishny
Alex Nadolishny

One more thought - if, when riding my bike I would be attacking with a deadly force every car driver who threatens my life by cutting me off, tailgating at 75 mph, slamming on brakes, pulling through very yellow light, making a left turn crossing my path, etc. there would be a terrible carnage. On a bike you learn the consequences of ineptitude and arrogance quickly, and excuses don't work well without airbags a steel cage around you. These bikers are reckless and should be fined for reckless driving. The SUV driver is a criminal and should be sued under at least 3 different articles: fleeing the scene of accident, assault with a deadly weapon and endangerment of a minor. End of story and all you tailgaters there should learn the lesson.

Man. looks like its a country I'm ashamed to be part of if that's the case. They should all be executed?! Sounds like ur really anti violence! Ironic. Ignorant. Sad

@JimyP Actually, I would put even more blame on the shoulders of the cops at this point. It's been a long standing policy of the NYPD to NOT give chase to illegal motorcycles riders. Many of the folks in these "Block parties" are riding quads and dirt bikes which are, for the most part, illegal on city streets. An even greater number are riding unregistered vehicles. Lastly I'm willing to bet that hardly more than a handful are insured.

The NYPD has stated that they do not chase illegal bike riders because of the potential for harm that fleeing suspects would cause the public. Apparently these scum have no problem hopping up onto the sidewalk, running red lights or engaging in high speed lane splitting in order to avoid capture.

Knowing that the cops won't pursue them leads them to do things like trying to close down streets and sections of highways in order to perform stunts and generally feel as though the roads are theirs.

It's this mentality which emboldened Cruz into brake-checking the SUV and also lead to the pack-mentality displayed by these riders.

@Joseph Baginski yerp. that's probs why they printed this story. it's not arguing with the people who are calling these THUGS "pussy" "terrorists" who deserve to die. they're just kinda putting it out there... because it's true.

jonsmote

@brad_s_hall bwahahahahaha. that's some roundabout logic if i ever heard it... we DO KNOW who these THUGS are.

to paraphrase you: they're a "masked, helmeted" biker gang with "stolen plates" that "target" other people on the road, who've now gone into "hiding" to "protect each others' identities when questioned by the police"

based on YOUR WORDS, it sounds like this gang is being roundly described in accurate terms. how would you describe a group of people with the above description? nice misunderstood gentlemen who love their lil' motocycles?

@Alex Nadolishny You're wrong on the legal issue of slowing down/stopping.  Cruz and his buddies got in front of the SUV and slowed down in order to box him in and make him stop.  Several riders have stated that this was their specific intention.  This action is not legal and falls under the category of illegal restraint and specifically, unlawful imprisonment, which is why Cruz is being charged with this crime.  Furthermore, Lien took off (both times) when his car was swarmed with members of this group attacking his car. This constitutes 1st and 2nd degree gang assault (yes, their are laws specific to groups/gangs).  Cruz was instrumental in bringing about this melee because of his deliberate actions toward Mr. Lien.  This is why he is going to spend time in jail and why he is the one ultimately responsible for his buddy being paralyzed.

@Alex Nadolishny he pulled over when he hit that shit head Cruz, then the bullshit MC swarmed him and slashed his tires. His tires were slashed BEFORE he was stopped by traffic. The MC were just badass wannabes that watch a little too much Sons of Anarchy. They swarmed, like cowards do, cowards love a good mob, and attacked, he fled. He was in danger, big time! The video tells the truth. He called the police several times. I love denial. Cracks me up the crap people tell themselves so they can feel self righteous.

@Alex Nadolishny  - completely intellectually dishonest - or just ignorant.  the gang threatened him - anyone in that gang took the risk of association with its lowest common denominator (about where you stand apparently).  the police will not charge him - he has a right to self defense - period.  if you see someone defend himself and his family from an attack, and you chase him down and beat him up, then yes - you Alex are a terrorist, a child, and a fool.  the thug got exactly what he deserved, and it's a shame more of them didnt as well.

@Alex Nadolishny Two questions for you Alex. 1. If you experience SO MUCH DANGER when you are riding, why do you risk your life doing it? 2. What Cracker Jack box did you get your law degree out of?

@Alex Nadolishny Lien was not a tailgater!  That is ludicrous!  He was surrounded, slowed and mobbed by a riotous group of menacing riders who were threatening the safety of his family.  Trying to compare this to a normal driving situation is insane.  Tailgaters have a choice, Lien did not.  Anyway, good luck riding your bike with this mentality!

Because you'll get run over, and still go to jail, because nobody like you?

@Anna_Merlan @brad_s_hall Ha ha!  How true.

I must sound drunk.   Sometimes, I am.  But not now.  I just crack myself up.  (Or is it "I just crack up myself"? I dunno, you're the writer...)

Thank you for responding to me!  I feel like I am talking with a celebrity!  Or at least a Village Voice writer!

Perhaps I should have approached you with a slow build-up.  I am too old for you anyway.  (I don't think that, but you do.)

I honor of the 5 words and a link that constitute our relationship so far, I just glanced at the snippets of your stories back at the Dallas Observer.   Interesting body of work.  I suspect you are more needed back in Texas than in New York.   New York is not starved of smart feminist women such as yourself.  (The one time I visited Dallas, everyone there treated me very decently, and so I am not knocking Dallas at all.  It must be a different vibe.)

Best wishes for continued success!  I just came to your work this time from interest in the biker incident.  I will follow your work in the Village Voice now.

@Anna_Merlan @brad_s_hall OK, now I know.   You are a proud Dallas Observer alum.   Your favorite topics are, loosely, politics, women's rights.  Your turn-ons are shyness, facial hair, and a guy who likes to get dirty and work with his hands.  Your turn-offs are obviously drunk men, waxed chests, and guys who say what they think you want to hear.
