A, C, and E trains were bypassing Times Square Station for a little over an hour on Monday afternoon after a small, suspicious item resembling a hand grenade was found on the subway tracks.

"We're not quite sure what it is yet. There are workers still working on the job," Sergeant Jones of the NYPD tells the Voice. The object, he said was found "on the tracks in the station on the northbound local A, C, E."

It later turned out to be "some kind of lightbulb or light fixture."

A, C, and E trains began bypassing the station as a precaution around 1:30 p.m., MTA spokesperson Aaron Donovan said. As of 2:36 p.m., trains had resumed regular service.
