Monday morning emergency services squad officers literally wrestled a jumper back to safety. In a video released by the NYPD -- we're guessing in a bid to shore up goodwill ahead of the mayoral transition -- police pull a man back from a ledge at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. OK, fine: The boys in blue did good yesterday.

The rescue happened around 10 a.m. on Monday, when the man parked his Dodge Caravan on the Brooklyn-bound side of the bridge and shimmied out over a jutting platform.

The footage shows the man and the rescuing officers having a conversation that seems a little more casual than their surroundings. Then suddenly, one officer lunges for the would-be jumper, grabbing him by the sleeve of his sweater. As the man writhes to get out of the sweater, the other officers huddle around him, trying to drag him to safety. Sometimes Elvis gets it right: a little less conversation, a little more action, please.

No word yet on exactly what nearly pushed him off the bridge, but according to the New York Post, the man told police at the scene that he was "upset that he could not find a job and provide for his family." The man is receiving treatment at Staten Island University Hospital.

Question. Man tried to kill himself because he feels worthless and small and simple jobs wont take him. He cant provide for his family in a city that is increasingly getting expensive to attract "new money" to a crumbling city. What will happen when 2 million low income NY'ers have to exodus the city and all you have left is unsustainable yuppies wondering why there's no corner store guy. So i guess the question is. Is this man going to get a job with such a public display of disenchantment of his society? And if he does, can all us unemployed go to the nearest East River Bridge?
