If you're sort of fed up with the same old holiday standards (A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, The Nutcracker) on loop, tonight experience a classic holiday tale with an urban modern-day twist. This, plus much more going on this week including Gemini & Scorpio's holiday pop-up party taking place in their brand-new Brooklyn loft.

[Holiday] If Gemini & Scorpio, our favorite Brooklynite party gals, know one thing (aside from throwing wild parties) it has to be eccentric fashion. And after tonight's Goldmine! Holiday Shopping Party we might end up looking as festive as they do (if that's possible). Purchase last-minute, one-of-a-kind stocking-stuffers like fingerless leather gloves, handmade jewelry, leather belts, handmade bone and skull rings, and other weird stuff. Your Secret Santa will thank you. Plus: drinks, snacks, music, and lounging in their awesome new loft.

At 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Gemini & Scorpio Loft, free. Must RSVP for location.

[Party] Take part in the Fourth Annual Toast to Tots Toy Drive and Fundraiser. Toys will benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation and raffle proceeds will benefit the Red Cross for Philippines relief. Raffles by Beats by Dre, Reebok, Ciroc, Rotting Television, Blank Label, and more.

At 6:30 p.m., Viktor & Spoils, free.

[Lit] Tonight, PowerHouse Arena hosts a book party and discussion on Katz's: Autobiography of a Delicatessen with author Jake Dell, Katz's fifth-generation owner, and photographer Baldomero Fernandez, along with Lucky Peach's Adam Krefman. We're hoping Katz is providing some kind of catering.

At 7 p.m., PowerHouse Arena, Brooklyn, free.

[Lit] Join the Asian American Writers' Workshop for Sex, Love, Scandal, an evening of readings, and talk about what really drives humankind and the social repercussions of these heated topics. Tonight's event features readings by Indira Ganesan (As Sweet As Honey), journalist Shereen El Feki (Sex and the Citadel), and poet Timothy Liu (Bending the Mind Around the Dream's Blown Fuse). They will also be discussing their searches into the most potent forms of human connection.

At 7 p.m., The Asian American Writers' Workshop, free.

[Holiday] Set to Tchaikovsky's music, and directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, A Hip Hop Nutcracker in Washington Heights stars Ann-Sylvia Clark, Sammy "Samo" Soto, Maria Clara Rodriguez, and Megan "Megz" Alfonso. This version has all the elements of the holiday classic except it takes place on the streets of Washington Heights. The audience will be guided by bilingual (English and Spanish) emcee and rapper MTV's Washington Heights star Audubonz. The production will be rounded out by a classically trained electric violinist and DJ.

At 8 p.m., United Palace Theatre, free.
