Our friends in Dumbo have told us they've been worried about crime -- though the NYPD stats show it
going down in the neighborhood, some
property crimes have been making the newer, richer people nervous. But we didn't know the neighborhood actually had police conning towers -- aka "Sky Watch." One
went up in March at Front Street between Adams and Pearl, which was
removed in April, but recently they
put up another at the Farragut projects. Now that we're looking, it appears towers have been
tried in other neighborhoods, too, like Harlem and Crown Heights. When our nabe gets one of these, may we assume it has become desirable? We haven't noticed a lot of "new people," but maybe they're afraid to walk the streets until Sky Watch is there to protect them.
