Jason Beghe to Anonymous: Grow Up

JasonBeghe.jpg

(Beghe, left, in San Francisco at an Anonymous rally with Larry Wollersheim.)

Jason Beghe is the veteran actor who, last April, became the first of Scientology's pampered celebrities to leave the organization and then denounce it publicly.

Since then, he's continued to work to publicize the shortcomings of L. Ron Hubbard's wacky cabal, and he quickly became a hero to many in the Anonymous movement, who praised him for his courage.

We checked in with Jason this morning about the news about the Vaseline prank pulled by some young members of Anonymous here in New York.

This is what Beghe had to say directly to the (typically college-aged) Anonymous members:

Anonymous set out to do something, which was to get the Church of Scientology to stop fucking around with "their" Internet. And they succeeded! That game is over, and someone should give them a big medal.

Since that game is over, they ought to create a new one. And it sure ain't running around rubbing pubic hair on people and things. That gives Scientology an easy way to play the victim. Which is one of their tactics.

I think Anonymous should be very proud of what they accomplished. And they should know that the Church of Scientology is nothing to be afraid of.

Maybe their next game should be 'Naked Anonymous.' And I don't mean take your pants off. I mean take your masks off. Show them that you're not afraid.

UPDATE: Tomorrow, another message for Anonymous, this time from Wise Beard Man.

The demonstrators are protesting the human rights violations that are perpetrated by Scientology within a fenced compound surrounded by razor wire on the inside of the fence.

To the scientologist named LES who is leaving comments comparing the cult to Anons - do you really want to go down that road where we start listing the many crimes of scientology? Because we can, and that list is going to be really long, filled with information that you probably don't want the general public to know - bet you don't even know the half of it.

Oh and Les, that was the President of your Church, John Carmichael harassing a poor kid and saying "I smell p*&*y you in particular." And denying Jason entrance to the org.

Tony, really, the story should be what Beghe(?) said - that Anonymous has been battling Scientology, legally, for a year and has had great success. Yet right now, Scientology is still attempting to control the internet. Message to Scientology, the vid which started it all, has been pulled off youtube. Many other youtubes are getting phony complaints in order that scientology can quiet the messages about their crimes.

Where is the story on that?

Silly prank was silly, and juvenile, but still hilarious. One anonymous jester gets busted, and you see that as the end of Anonymous?

We're about to celebrate our annoniverary this weekend with a global picket. There are plans in place for the rest of the year.

We're even cleaning up the corrupt hold Scientology has in Riverside County, California, where the cult is trying to suppress everyone's right to free speech!

Oh, we're not done, Mr. Ortega, not by a long shot! We're just getting into our groove. 2008 was just a warm up.

2009, it's payback time. The cult is going to be forced to take responsibility for the crimes and abuses it's been allowed to perpetrate for five decades.

I would like these Scientologists posting their Big Wins here to talk about how the local OT committee came out to picket my house when I lived in Salt Lake City in the 1990s. My "crime" was picketing the Org. By myself, in pretty much all cases.

It irritates me to no end to see Scientology set itself up as the victim when in point of fact it has been the instigator of a lot of bad behavior.

And everyone should be aware that all the PR stuff Scientology does (e.g. Volunteer Ministers and so on) is designed to suck you into Scientology. That's so you can have your wallet hoovered and your life completely dominated by a high-commitment organization that some have called the cult of greed and power.

I'm not anonymous--how could I be, not when the so-called "Religious Freedom Watch" website linked to Scientology calls me a "religious bigot" and has done so for a decade now?

Feb. 13, 2009 - 15 years since Scientology brought down the wrath of the Internet by raiding Dennis Erlich. That was the cult's Waterloo, but they didn't know it then.

Anonymous has made it possible to criticize the cult of $cientology, but their inability to focus their efforts due to disparate factions make it hard for the average person to become involved in any kind of massive boycott of the dangerous organization, and therefore, they have lost their ability to be effective. They should call themselves something else and leave the psychopaths who still call themselves Anonymous far behind. This is probably what Jason meant. As long as people follow the law, they have nothing to fear from Scientology, only Scientologists have something to fear from their church.

And it's inevitable that this will happen again. There is an endless supply of idiots out there and they can all be "Anonymous".

Because of these kinds of stunts, the whole concept of "Anonymous" will become a joke. More idiots will do incredibly stupid, tasteless, moronic things, and will claim to be "Anonymous" and Anonymous will laugh and, seemly, approve.

I hope this isn't what will happen, and I would be sorry to see this come to pass.

tl;dr: Beghe, STFU. We don't have fancy lawyers. We're real people with jobs, lives, families, and other things we'd rather not sacrifice to the acts of violence, harassment, and violation as seen by the cult in the past.

Hey Les. Guess what?

1. Scientology is the biggest hypocritical business I've taken the time to look into. Human rights? It violates the same human rights it advocates.
2. You seem to forget that people act of their own accord and that one anon does not represent Anonymous. For instance, pro-life activists. Some protest peacefully, some write letters to senators, and some blow up abortion clinics. Do all pro-life activists blow up abortion clinics? No. Do all pro-life activists WANT to blow up abortion clinics? No. Will all pro-life activists eventually blow up an abortion clinic? No. (I feel it kinda defeats the purpose of being PRO-LIFE, dontcha think?) But they're all considered pro-life activists. We're considered anti-Scientology. It doesn't mean we're bigots, hate-mongers, enjoy pubic hair on our bodies, or advocate anything that any other Anonymous does, from protesting to DDOS'ing to prank calls to anything else Anonymous does. It doesn't mean we want to send you some yellow vans, though we do advise you buy some curtains and a dog. Some anons don't like the protests, some don't like the prank calls. For instance, I think Angry Gay Pope is as annoying as crap, has stupid tactics, and I never watch his videos OR read his threads on the board. Does this change the fact that he was a participant in Project Chanology as an anon until his name was revealed? No. Anyone can be Anonymous. Unlike scientology, we don't have to be a member or pay for our membership. There is no official membership, therefore anyone can be a part of it, therefore people will act of their own accord and without the "consent" of the majority. Did I personally know about the pubic-haired anon until the video was displayed on youtube? No. I found out with the majority of the rest of Anonymous. Did we blow something up? No. Did a person who did a prank get caught? Yes.

I hope some day that you WAKE UP. Or, if it doesn't suit your fancy to listen to me here, then watch Vanilla Sky and WAKE UP. ABRE LOS OJOS. ABRE LOS OJOS. ABRE LOS OJOS. ABRE LOS OJOS. OPEN YOUR EYES.

Open your eyes, David.

Please tell Mr. Beghe that not all protesters are teenagers and college kids; I`m a granny who thinks that this prank was childish and foolish. My first thought when I saw the video was that it was staged by $cientology to make anonymous look bad so they could baw about being picked on and scream that anonymous is a bigoted hate group! $cientology is still harassing picketers near gold base and it would be foolish to take off masks there. M. Dufresne (scn official at gold) gave sheriffs the HIV status (obtained illegally) of two protesters in an attempt to get the sheriffs to make them leave as it was a threat to have HIV+ protesters there! Like they`re going to throw aids over the fence or something...how ridiculous! When $cientology stops their dirty tactics-then anonymous will take the masks off....which means...most likely never as scn doctrine is not likely to change-it`s written by LRH and to change would mean that the tech is squirreled, right?

Watch the vid of 3 scn security goons attack and hogtie an anonymous protester and have him arrested after he asked them why they left a flare behind his car when it was a high fire alert day! Plus 2 scn`ists picketed his home in the a.m.!

Scientology is a decent evolutionary group with people winning in life, the "anonymous" if it dignifies a name at all is a bunch of individuals who spread hate and violence. Of course those with survival impulses draw to Scientology and those with a death wish tend to affiliate with destructive groups and individuals. Simple as that.

Yeah, that stunt (pubic hairs and a petroleum lubricant) was ridiculously silly (well, and sad) to those of us who are intelligent beings.

AND -- yes -- sadly, a stunt like that allows scientology to cry victim in order to distract observers from its obvious anti-human doctrines and practices.

HOWEVER!!! Where did Jason Beghe say "grow up"?

We are waiting to hear your answer, Tony Ortega :)

David Freehug says:

How is Scientology a "decent evolutionary group" ? Firstly, treating people the way Scientology does is blatantly indecent. Secondly forcing Sea Org to have abortions so they can continue is hardly good in evolutionary terms - let alone the insanity foisted on youngsters by the cult.

I really don't consider people continually paying out money for ludicrous pretence to be "winners".

Anonymous on the other hand have done what Governments and real religions should have done a long time ago. They've put themselves on the line to spread knowledge of a dangerous cult. I think that's pretty much the behaviour of a winner.

Agent Pubit - you're a bit weird, but hey - at least you don't con people out of their life-savings, or lives...

And for anyone that claims this hate crime is "not anonymous" or "not sanctioned by anonymous" please see that this comes right out of the "Anonymous Playbook" as posted on their forum along with other offensive "operations" such as one that begins "An anon takes laxatives a half an hour before going into the org to take a stress test, in shorts." That this material was left on the forum since May implicates Anonymous as a group, no matter how amorphous they may be.

$cientology Event: Attempting to recruit Virginia Tech students after some wacko goes and kills over 20 of them.

$cientology Event: Sexually Harassing your co-workers and trying to FORCE them to take $cientology classes. This is a reference to a Chi Dentist who was just sued 2 DAYS BACK for doing this. Article on Google, type Scientology, click "NEWS".

$cientology Event: Placing a man with MS in their prison camp or RPF until he withers away and dies. This just happened not 4 months back to UWE STUCKENBROCK. Look it up.

Anonymous Event: Peacefully protesting $cientology WHILE BEING HARASSED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY BY $CIENTOLOGISTS.

Do your own research on Google, Youtube, Scientology.org ($ci's own website), Xenu.net etc. After 15 minutes of looking you'll see the truth plain as day.

Orange Lucozade says:

In reference to what "StupidGrayDope" says, please do visit that site and have a look around. Its clear to anyone that the page cited was intended as humorous.

Indeed, look around the whole site. It's clear from the recent debates that many anons did not approve of the recent prank, and very clear that there is no "group", there is no manual to what anons do. Everything done by anons is transparent, debated by all, but all actions are by individuals. No leaders.

It's also very clear that the scientologists posting here make no attempts to defend any of the vile actions of their sad little cult, only to try and attack their critics: Following the "tech" their cult founder laid down, "always attack, never defend". The same founder that died under an assumed name, a wanted criminal in the US, UK and France, with a system full of the psychiatric drugs he forbade to his cult followers.

StupidGrayPope: While we have a number of plays there, many of them were intended for humor alone. And even if it was posted there and organized by a few members, almost all of the other anonymous members had no idea this was even being executed until that night when the video went up. Even anons that are heavily involved in the cause were surprised.

Decades of making indoctrination movies for the cult isnt wiped out by making one interview with the worst audio mix ever and attempting to walk into the NYC org, beghe has a cheek, the same people who caused more traction against the cult than anything else in the last 60 years get dissed by the same face every scientologist sees when they are being brainwashed, forgive me if i dont suddenly do exactly what you say when you say it.
a few bit parts in murder she wrote and a recurring character in some mid america medical drama doesnt make up for the fact beghe's mouth is the one telling you that scientology is mankinds last hope.

Mr Beghe, members of my family attended protests and have received multiple death threats, including threats that their children would be murdered.

Should I encourage them to take your advice, and abandon measures to protect their identities?

Your suggestion is foolish. As a public figure, I expect you to speak with care, in relation to an issue which bears on the safety of others.

anonymous has been doing a great job fighting scientology. aside from that, they're unfortunately a bit too hypocritical. how many times have anons gone from praising someone (whether another anon or a nonanon) to attacking them in the blink of an eye. how many times have anons attacked someone for being a leaderfag and then turned around and acted like a leaderfag themselves. how many times have anons attacked moral fags, or lulz fags, and then acted the same way themselves. there's a reason anonymous is not your friend. they're a bunch of retards.
