Post Cartoon Stars Obama Chimp, Sez Sharpton

delonaschimp.jpgIn more Travis-the-killer-chimp-related news, today's Post runs a Sean Delonas cartoon of a chimp shot by cops, one of whom says, "They're have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." Get it? Reverend Al Sharpton thinks he does: he calls it "troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys" and "Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?" He's not the only one who thinks so, either. These Bastards defends the Post, sort of: "Grow up, breathe, and go cover the probable dozens of things in today's Post that were 30-40 times more racist than the cartoon. For Christ's sake, they run columns by Ann Coulter." Next week: another weird Delonas cartoon on the watermelon Viagra effect.

Don Bertrand says:

See Delona’s Feb 9, 2009 New York Post cartoon clearly identifying Obama as the writing author of the Stimulus Bill. So
Obama is the chimp shown in Delona’s Feb 18th cartoon. Post’s defense of non-intended attribution to Obama is a lie.
You can see cartoonist's earlier Feb 9th cartoon on New York Post's website archives of cartoonist's works.

Doug says:

Since the wording of the toon clearly refers to the WRITER of the stimulus package, one must assume that the honorable reverend Sharpton is still as full of that which makes the grass grow greener as he usually is..
Now that I look at it though, the chimp DOES sorta look like Pelosi pre-defoliation..
