What's the point of being on a construction crew if you can't have a liquid lunch? A few days back the
New York Post watched as "
three workers threw back eight drinks each" -- beers and shots -- "in less than an hour" during their midday break at Biddy Early's Pub & Restaurant on Murray Street which, the paper noted with outrage, is "two blocks from the sacred soil of Ground Zero." Hardhats expressed to the paper a cheerfully fatalistic attitude -- "We don't have to worry until someone severs a hand." That turned out not to be their only worry: today the
Post proudly reveals that they
got two workers fired from the job for drinking. New York just gets harder for the working man every day.
