Conservatives Urged to Boycott NFL

neverforget427.jpgIn the annals of rightwing hubris, we haven't seen much to equal this: one of the conservatives enraged that Rush Limbaugh's ex-partners have excluded him from their plans to buy the Rams (which Limbaugh and his followers blame on liberals) has proposed that patriots counter-attack by... boycotting the NFL.

"I have cancelled my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket package (including the Supercast)," declares "Teflon" of Moltenthought.com. "I will not watch ONE MINUTE of NFL games or coverage this season -- including the Super Bowl." He also says that, like all good Americans, "I have two official [Raiders] jerseys -- I will be following the suggestion to cut them up and sent them to [NFL Commissioner] Roger Goodell." That's going the extra mile, soldier!...

Raise hands, citizens, and take the pledge! Major conservative blogs endorse Teflon's plan. "I'll bet there's a big overlap between Limbaugh fans and NFL fans, though," says Instapundit, "so it'll be interesting to see who wins out in a battle for loyalties."

Battle for loyalties? He actually thinks Sunday afternoon beer-and-wings fans will eschew their ritual viewings so Rush will know they care? We doubt he's that stupid -- he's just looking for readers who are.

So, Limbaugh loyalists, send in your photos of yourself ignoring a football game! George Washington will give you a giant-foam-#1-finger from the Great Sports Bar in the sky.

William Durocher says:

Hey everyone, Limbaugh is a weird, weird comedian. Anyone who makes comments about others in such a critical fashion, publicly, must realize that there are consequences. My view is that some of his comments roughly border on a form of treason. In particular hoping publicly that the President should fail. He erroneously gives the impression that he is a true patriot but statements like that show that he truly has other motivation. It is obviously money and ratings. Limbaugh is a thorn in the side of true patriots who are legitimately interested in the well being of their country whether they are Conservatives or Liberals. I do not see any value in this type of reporting. It is one thing to constructively criticize but it is quite another to demonize and threaten.

Hey, Roy, do you even know the definition of "hubris"? Actually I'm more offended by the celebrity-obssessed Steve Ross bringing in that skank singer to be an owner of the Dolphins, than I am by what happened to Rush. I am glad, though, that Rush called out Checketts for the coward that he is. As for Goodell, well, we all knew he was a pussy.

Mr. Durocher, by demonizing and threatening, do you mean union thugs beating on teaparty members? We could also include hanging Palin in effigy last Halloween. Let's not forget Matthews wanting to plug Limbaugh with a pellet gun. The only thorns I see are the ones on the crown poor Obama has to wear.

Hi, I have no plans to "boycott" the NFL, but it is weird that in my gut I feel let down, I guess. I thought it was a joke when I heard Rush was a part of buying a team. It was idiotic. Maybe a publicity stunt by Checketts? The letdown to me was that quotes that were made up, kept getting pub. Even after they were debunked. Some columns are still out there, with no corrections. That's destructive, in terms of free speech, to me. Now he's a martyr of truth and that's messed up. The NFL needed to say, right at the start,"NO, sorry, you're too polarizing." Finished biz. Instead they let this go on. A Giant player that I really root for, Mathias Kiwanuka, spouted lies in NY papers that he thought were true. Now, I think he's a jerk. The real truth is out there, but no retraction, no nothing. I dunno.. Rush is a dope, but messing with truth is crazy-dangerous for a Democracy. Thanks for letting me post.

lol cut up RAIDERS JERSEYS??

my god, you had better include an extremely detailed explanation as to why you're cutting the jerseys up or the symbolism will be lost on goodell. I'm sure he must get thousands of cut up raiders jerseys a week.

This is messed up. Seah James and I might be in the same Union, working the same job, totally fine and liking each other in real life. Now, I read his post and how can I not think that HE might be a racist? This is a disgraceful incident that the NFL sat around and watched happen. Dumb as it is, I'll never think about the NFL same way.

come on jay, this went on for a week. long enough for goodell to make an informed decision. and don't sit there and act like rush is a 'martyr of truth' as you put it. he has disparaged the NFL before. he has also disparaged a premier player in the league on the basis of race.

the NFL acted to avoid long term controversy. the market has spoken and unfortunately rush must be held accountable for all of his incendiary remarks.

What's that quote, Scott? Something like a lie can go around the world, before truth can get it's pants on? One memo and it would've been over. The fake quotes are still out there. Do you, or do you not, think that that is right?? Are lies OK if they help forward an agenda?

Yup, screw free speech, "Scott". Idiot Rush has the guts to say the crap he says out in the open, with his name attached, "Scott". He can be laid-waste with his REAL words, not made-up ones. The NFL was stupid, but liars and the gutless are worse. They're dangerous to Democracy.

screw you jay.

you can't cry about your favorite person being persecuted because a bunch of private citizens decided they don't want to do business with him.

no matter what the reason that checkett and his buddies dropped limbaugh, thats the way business works. rush traffics in controversy, but whenever it comes back to bite him on the ass he runs from it, the true mark of a coward. he never takes responsibility for his actions unless they damage someone else.

so like a true american patriot, what does limbaugh do when he's dropped by private citizens attempting to buy a private franchise from a private organization?

blame a public figure.

Hi "Cobbler", "Scott" and "Anonymous", I'm back for a bit. Thanks for thinking of me. First, read back through my posts and you'll see I never said I'm a Rush fan, because I'm not. He's an idiot, he's divisive and I don't watch or listen to his type; Marxist-Libs or Nazi-Cons. Sportsradio WFAN is where I'm at, mostly.
My posts were about how stupid the NFL is and how dangerous liars are. Liars make bad situations worse, as evidenced by some of the geeked-up, foul posts here.
Some of you are no better than him. You can't have a rational discussion about anything. It's easier to swear, misrepresent and insult. What's worse, most of you are too chicken-bleep to put your name on your junk. Grow some stones and get back to me.

Scott, first, I hope you didn't think that my last post was about you. It wasn't.
Next, I had read and heard that Rush quote before. Again, he shows he's a doofus. I could find you some that would make that seem mild. Hey, your reference to the first amendment to the Constitution and the free market is dead-on. Bingo. It's all this other stuff that's messed up. My last thoughts were my first thoughts: He never should've been asked and when he was, the NFL shoulda killed it before any of us even knew about it.
Thanks again for letting me post.

scott says:

"It's all this other stuff that's messed up. "

what other stuff? the inevitable media circus involved whenever rush's name gets dragged into the national spotlight? because besides the removal of rush from the bid that's all that's happened. now if quotes were made up to make rush look bad, that's terrible, but it pales in comparison to the crap he's spewed for YEARS about people.

i was referring to the quotes that directly deal with the NFL. I am fully aware of the other vile things rush says to keep the paycheck coming.

my comment still stands except for the 'Screw You' part, I took my frustration out on the nearest target... so I guess the proper term would be something along the lines of sorry.

Limbaugh is a lying, deceiving, no military service white trash low life prick talking shit so morons around the Country get to chuckle about their perceived superiority when listening to his program while washing dishes in restaurants and shovelling shit. It's how he makes his money. The fact that NFL owners do not want his company, most being republican and well sheltered against economic set backs, speaks volumes on how all but low forehead cretins despise this arrogant son of a fucking sewer rat. I've known sons of bitches, but those usually have at least some decency buried within them somewhere.

And then we have these right wing blogger idiots. They state that to be American you must say and do exactly as this grown up Charlie Brown, Lush BimBo tells you. How fucking stupid can you get and who taught these total morons on how to use a computer? One would think. One would think that whoever did this feat needs to be directing a new and improved education program, but that - of course - is not what's going on. These top right wing bloggers, like the traitor to her heritage the Malkin bitch, are getting some kind of compensation, they are not stupid, just completely immoral and add there voice to the FOX chorus of demagogues firing up the republican base. You want an example of what that base is like. Go visit the Monkey House in your local zoo. You want an example of a total scumbag? Any republican pundit firing up the Neanderthal base causing it stress and unhappiness and anger when - if left alone - they'd be content torturing a fish with a hook through it's mouth, cheek or stomach, shooting an animal, tearing up the countryside in a snowmobile or quad or spending Sunday at a race track hoping for a flaming, killing crash.

It's high time and past due that whites get up off their knees, rise to their feet and start acting like human beings instead of livestock on a liberal, multi-cultural cattle ranch. After half a century of indentured servitide of white tax payers to non-white deadbeats, it's time for whites to boycott every single institution that has discriminated against whites and that includes the NFL.

Just google "boycott NFL" and see how much support is out there for this cause.

One last observation is this; Limbaugh is always talking about other people's lack of accomplishments. How real is this coming from someone that all he's ever done in his life is talk shit? What's he ever done except talk shit? I bet you he doesn't even know which end of a screwdriver to use and he probably thinks it's a drink with an umbrella in it. The puke is a human waste. Why am I even paying attention to this piece of garbage? I've gotto think about it for a while. Maybe I am personally insulted by his audacity in thinking that he actually amounts to something to people other than hillbillies fucking barn yard animals.

We've a mutual friend. Limbaugh worked for friend before Sacramento.

An email from the friend in the late 80's was also sent to Limbaugh. I told friend not to ever put me on the same mailing list as Limbaugh.

"Aw, come on, you don't think my little fuzz buddy really believes any of that, do you?"

I would occasionally punch into Limbaugh, waiting for news. Whatdda you know, there's Limbaugh calling himself "your little fuzz buddy."

Limbaugh is an act, folks. Somewhere over 10% of his audience, heavily male, over 65, not a prime demographic, dies each year. Just like rasslers on tv, he has to keep punching the story-line higher and higher in an attempt to maintain ratings.

Limbaugh knew way early he had no chance to be part of an NFL ownership group. He's milked it wonderfully, showing himself the victim.

IT'S AN ACT, FOLKS! I just wish his idiot listeners who buy into everything he says weren't allowed to own guns.

Mike says:

I'm not boycotting so Rush will know I care. I'm boycotting out of respect for the constitution and the right to free speech. The real racists - Sharpton, Jackson, Goodell and their ilk, don't decide how I spend my time and my money. And Goodell is going to find out where the dollars that support pro football actually come from. If the viewers don't tune in, the ad dollars go down, and the whole thing collapses like a house of cards.

And by the way, not only am I not a racist, most of my friends are minorities (by the ridiculous federal definition).

So I encourage freedom loving Americans, Americans that believe in the free market system, to join me in sending a message to the NFL by turning off the game.

I had decided to boycott the NFL myself as I have found it increasingly distasteful to watch. I saw various comments here and there about a boycott and thought, "This is doomed to fail."

But then I stumbled here by accident from a Google search and after reading the post here and the comments, I am beginning to believe a boycott may just work. A little financial pain just before the upcoming contract negotiations may just push things into a destructive strike.

God you libs are dim- this isn't about some private business deciding what's wrong/right- this is about major US news stations broadcasting total lies that led to the NFL (1 owner-right?) dropping the bid...Rick Sanchez is a MORON- a MORON. CNN is a joke- OH but they're the "real news" according to Rahm and Axelrod. Oh that's right- Fox holds 10/10 top spots in cable news shows because the majority of newswatching Americans are just dumbshits- yeah, gotcha

Rush's producer is black, one of his dearest friends is black. What Rush said about Donovan McNabb was true-- LIBERAL sports journalists were touting the same...he was making fun of them. You need to have a clue about satire "Barack the Magic Negro" (google it- just make sure you google it with "la times") to get Rush. That humor may be too advanced for you, you probably think SNL and Letterman are still funny.

Nobody is a bigger fan of the NFL than Rush. The "professionally offended" and career race-baiters win again.

The NFL sucks- always has- always will.

Just a Guy says:

So, for all these wonderful people claiming that it was a "private decision" about "people whom just don't want to do business with him," I've got to wonder:

It would, I presume, be as OK with you people if they didn't "want" to "do business" with someone because they were, say, homosexual?

Obviously, you'd support that as well, right? I mean, those baying the loudest at the very idea that people on the right aren't thrilled by this... those who say it's perfectly OK to exclude someone ENTIRELY because of their ideas or what they've said would certainly feel the same way if they decided they didn't want to "do business" with someone because they were gay.... right?

I look forward to the responses to this little, pardon the pun, query.

That'd be discrimination, silly, unless the homosexual had consistently proven himself to be a big ol' racist asshole like Rush who denigrates the NFL product, in which case it'd be fine.
