GRAND OL' PAGAN: What Does the Republican 'Heathen' Running for New York's City Council Actually Believe?

Sumbel.jpg
Halloran leads New Normandy in the ritual of "sumbel."

Ravenhawk was also surprised to hear that Halloran is a Republican. "Most of us are Democrats," she said, adding that "To be a pagan, you have to have faith in a higher power." She doubted that heathens shared that sentiment.

But Halloran hasn't left any doubt on that score. After the Tribune story revealed his heathenism, he answered with an article in the Queens Chronicle, titled "I Believe in God." That use of the singular noun, however, didn't sit well with pagan bloggers, who reacted with scorn for Halloran's refusal to use the words "gods." Pandering to Roman Catholic voters, some called it.

The blowback was so strong, Halloran responded with an e-mail to one of the blogs (after repeatedly telling the Voice that questions about his religion had no bearing on his candidacy). Halloran pledged his allegiance to the one-handed Germanic deity Tiw (also spelled Tyr). He also avowed "respect of the Gods of the North and the Wights of Middenyard," and declared that he's such a proud heathen, his two cars bear personalized license plates that read "Tiw Tru" and "Tyr Tru."

The original Tribune article has rankled Halloran from the time it was published. His campaign has charged that the Tribune is published by the same people who own Multi-Media, a PR firm that his Democratic opponent, Kevin Kim, retained for $80,000. Kim doesn't dispute this: "My relationship is with Multi-Media. That relationship has been fully disclosed. You'll have to ask the Tribune about their editorial decisions."

Pagan or not, Halloran still looks like a tailor-made candidate for the Bayside district. He's Irish, a former cop turned lawyer, and he descends from a long line of Roman Catholic police officers. Kim, a Korean-American, is better financed, but much of Kim's support comes from outside the 19th district, which is not overwhelmingly Asian.

Last week, things heated up again when Kim's campaign filed a police report alleging that two Asian campaign workers had been harassed by Halloran supporters while they were putting up posters. They claim that the duo was surrounded by about a dozen white teens, carrying Halloran paraphernalia and chanting "White Power!" and "Asian Man Out!"

Halloran doesn't believe a word of it. "They said it happened at 3:30 in the afternoon, but there were no witnesses?" Halloran told the Voice at a recent campaign stop. Halloran accuses Kim of trying to create religious and racial divides where they don't exist. But again, he didn't bring up his own religious beliefs.

Next week, one candidate will make history in Bayside. If Halloran is defeated, Kim will be the first Korean-American elected to New York's city council.

Or, if Halloran wins, he will surely be the only elected official in America with special license plates honoring an ancient, one-handed German god.

Barry W. says:

There's nothing wrong with be a first atheling, or practicing ancient religious rituals. Queens county is, after all, historically a pastiche of cultures and religions.

But its one thing if you come out honestly and allow the voters to make their own judgment call on it and its another to advertise from the beginning of the campaign that you are practicing Roman Catholic- never making mention of the fact that you are not, and haven't been observing Catholicism for years. It misleads the voters in the district in the most discreet ways.

Regardless of whether he is a heathen, the voters have a right to know of Mr. Halloran's background.

I wonder if the same Democrats raising the hue and cry over a Republican Heathen who they suspect is a racist because they don't understand his religion are the same Democrats who vigorously defended Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright, the anti-Semitic Christian preacher? Honesty, integrity and principles being sacrificed on the altar of election victory by the Democratic congregation? Well, I never! If the fact that racist gangs use Heathen imagery as a recruitment tool in prisons is a valid reason to mention racism in EVERY article about the Indo-European gods and their modern adherents, I think we should mention the Democrats historical association with slavery and Jim Crow laws EVERY time a Democratic candidate runs for office.

Chances are the pictures were taken down for privacy issues. Dan Halloran has decided to make his religion public, for good or ill. Others may have jobs were if their religious beliefs were known they could face discrimination (intentional or not) and requested their images be taken down.

Regardless, we should respect their wishes.

Low Key says:

As a polytheist, it would be strange for Halloran to deny the existence of any god or goddess. Acknowledging the existence of other gods does not mean that he is worshiping those other gods. So saying he believes in God does not mean he lied or mislead anyone. To follow the gods of the Norse tradition doesn't require denial of any other gods. This is one of the things that set polytheism apart from monotheism, its openness.

This Ravenhawk person is a serious bigot.

I find this interesting that you are all so upset because they took down pictures of themselves. This is about Halloran NOT those of his Kindred. This is about what HE is doing and wanting to do for the people he is wanting to represent. This is NOT about those of his people that he is a Leader of. Now for me, as an Asatru Heathen, I am well aware of what happens when people who dont like anyone else if they do not believe as they, can do. I am also very aware that its common knowledge that MOST people want to believe that ALL who follow the Asatru Heathen ways are white supremissts. Well they arent and they will never be. That is an adulteration of our beliefs. And yes, Wiccans are a nasty bunch who infight on a regular basis to make themselves appear better than they are. Dan Halloran is not one of them and he's just wanting to serve. You as an individual will make your own decisions. Too bad most people cant make them without being racists or judging by what THEY consider right. As for me, I will protect my children from hate mongers and racists no matter what. They will be very well prepared for what is going to be thrown at them. That is life and we are stronger for our trials no matter what your beliefs may be.

What does the SPLC's idea of who is a racist have to do with this gentleman's religious beliefs?

Talk about a set-up article. There is nothing in the religion practiced by the subject or his group that would lead a resonable person to conclude that he or the group is in any way associated with "White supremacists", or with any "prison group". Why, then, was it given such prominent play?

Simply put, to discredit the man, to trash his candidacy, and to put any others who dare challenge the leftist orthodoxy on notice that they will be smeared by any means possible should they raise their heads.

Despicable, but very, very Leninist.

As Grand Priest of Odin and Keeper of the Sacred Ax of the Brotherhood of Fjordholm I strongly object to the name "New Normandy" Normandy is in France. Nothing Nordic about it except for Rollo the Snaileater who no longer can be considered Nordic since he made his home on foreign soil. The Republican party, voted most favored by ALL the Gods recently as revealed by Bjorn the Wise, explicitly has made it clear that it also strongly objects to France. So where are these people coming from saying they are Nordic from Normandy? We have decided to put a bane on this group of imposters. No aid from the Norse Gods is forthcoming to advance the cause of white people unless Republicans run Bjorn the Wise who presently is being confined in Bellevue because of a misunderstanding he had about what sort of things you can do with domesticated animals. Of course what is really happening is that Obama decided to lock him up because if the truth was known Obama would be in trouble. The Gods have provided Bjorn with a copy of OBAMA'S REAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE chiseled in stone. AND THE GODS WILL RELEASE HIM! THE TRUTH WILL BE KNOWN!

I am very pleased that a Gentile is being considered for political candidacy. I want to be politically active (for the left, mind you), and I was in despair after a Democratic Superdelegate was stripped of her position after her Pagan religion was leaked.

None of my Heathen friends are white supremacists, and most seem very pious. I don't know what Ravenhawk is talking about when she claims that Heathens don't believe in a higher power. While Reconstructionist Polytheists do emphasize historical accuracy, our relationships with the Gods are no less genuine than a Wiccan's.

@Arne Rasmussen - Do you know nothing about medieval French history? Normandy was conquered and settled by the Vikings in the Middle Ages. The latter half of your comment is not even worth responding to.

I think bringing up the very small minority of White Supremacists is playing dirty pool. It would like trying to say that the KKK was the dark side of being Baptist and just as untrue.

Bad people don't change just because they get religion, any religion. Nor do good people change. I have contacts with a number of Heathen Groups and I would say most of them are strongly against any kind of racism.

As a Wiccan I am saddened by the ignorant comment by another Wiccan. Unfortunately we have our share of ignorant people, when it comes to knowing anything about other Pagan and Heathen religions. I dislike that as much as the few ignorant Christian bashers, I have seen.

But no religion is without both good and bad, intelligent and ignorant people, because that is the human condition.

KC says:

Ravenhawk appears to be a rather uninformed 'source' for the article on a number of fronts.

Heathenry/Asatru including the denomination (for lack of a better word) of Theodism encompasses a tradition that does indeed practice and worship the Norse Gods, plural, and not singular. Dan, as a lawyer, just feels particular affinity to the God Tyr, known as a God of justice. But who also is a patron deity of Normanni, in the way that in ancient times Athena was associated with the people and city of Athens, yet the Athenians still worshipped the other Greek deities.

I've been in ritual with Mr. Halloran on two separate occassions, once at Litha a few years ago hosted in New Hampshire when Neoanglia Theod was in fostership to Normanni Theod. The event had people of several ethnicities, including at least one African-American that I recall in attendance. I've also attended the same ritual as him at Harrowmoot in Texas.

Also not all Asatru in prisons are white supremacists. There are a number of folks doing prison ministry in the asatru/heathenry community (and no we don't consider the neo-nazi groups to be among us) who are doing that work.

Robert Elm says:

First let me say that I am a Pagan, specifically of a Hermetic background, studying and practicing interrelated classical Greek and Egyptian religious traditions. I am also a founder, board member and Vice president of the Pagan Unity Foundation (PUF) here in Los Angeles County, California. I have been a Pagan for about 17 years and have studied many Pagan traditions in detail. I am also considered by many in the Los Angeles Pagan community to be a bit of an authority on Comparative Religion especially as regards Neo and Paleo-Pagan forms of worship. I am also a staunch liberal who would not vote for Mr. Halloran purely on grounds of policy. I bring this last bit up not to deride him and his political beliefs but to assure you that what I have to say is objective and without pretense.

Frankly while being Heathen doesn't mean one WILL be an honorable person, the religion does indeed lay heavy focus upon Honor and Courage and as such I am more likely to believe that what Mr. Halloran professes politically is genuine and not hyperbole. That makes me respect him more than many fellow Liberals that I have met who use Liberal terminology but don't walk their talk.

With that said I am more than a little dismayed to see the Village Voice posting this article and not going any deeper than the skin with regard to Mr. Halloran's tradition and thus using rhetoric to impugn his credibility and suggest things about his character and his intentions that are frankly spurious. If he does think these things then it has nothing to do with his being Heathen.

Yes there are some Heathens that do not consider themselves Pagan but I know far more who do affiliate with the broader Pagan community than do not. We count many Asatruar among our affiliates and I personally attend Norse Blauts with the local Heathens any time they go public with the rite. They encourage and practice the virtues of loyalty, bravery and honor which are qualities I think we can all get behind. Their influence is a breath of fresh air that is always welcome when they come and participate in rites from other denominations in our confederation and their views are well respected when added to the mix.

Even more disturbing though is the portrayal of Asatruar as racists and Neo-Nazis. I have met exactly one racist Asatru and have known more than thirty who are not. One, the man who brought this article to my attention counts Asatruar of many ethnicities as kindred and actually provided sound equipment for my wedding (without being asked and without my yet knowing him well. He saw a need and sought to fill it)... By the way my wife is black and I am white which makes me worse than any other ethnicity in racist circles, I'm a race traitor. I am proud to consider him my friend.

In addition to this I think there is an unfortunate misunderstanding of history with regard to World War Two and the Nazis' relationship to Germanic religion. First, Hitler was not an Odinist or Asatru, he did however use the German people's growing interest in and pride of Germany's past for his political advantage. Read about his take on the New Testament and you will see how blatantly utilitarian his view of religion was (everything Marx suggested about religion could have been taken as a blueprint for Hitler's use of it as an opiate for the German masses). If you don't take my word for it, try reading up on what he did to occultists interested in Germanic religion in WW2, many of them were thrown into the concentration camps with the Jews and gays who also were interned there and died.

As for Himmler, his practices seem to have been purely magical and had SS members doing things like having sex on the graves of Teutonic Knights so they would reincarnate into the bodies of the children conceived during that act. This is in no way related to traditional Germanic religion and is NOT practiced as an element of Asatru.

I hope that as highly esteemed a news organization as the Village Voice will help to clarify these inaccuracies and prevent such poor fact checking as displayed in this article in the future.

Thank you for your time,

Rev. Robert Elm (Board Member and Vice president of Pagan Unity Foundation, former staff, Grey School)

I respect Dan Halloran for wanting to keep his religious beliefs private. He is trying to keep to the topic...How he is going to administer his position once and if he is elected. The issue is not if he is white, black, straight, gay, Baptist or Heathen, it is if he will serve the people the best. Are his POLITICAL views the best for the city or is his opponents? That is all that should be discussed. His religion is his own. This is guaranteed in the Constitution Article VI Section 3's prohibition of a religious test for public office.

If Dan Halloran belongs to a group that includes non-Whites he's clearly not a racist. There is an orchestrated campaign here to make it seem like he is one. Thrasher spends more time talking about neo-nazis than Halloran and mysteriously an anonymous thread on Stormfront appears supporting him?

It is obious not a lot of research was done for this article. Heathens or Asatruar are primarily NOT racist or white power at all. I am clergy in this faith and none of our sacred texts would promote in any way racism. It also is one of the few faiths stating our Gods and Goddesses are equal in stature. Maybe this would cause some Wiccan spokes people to smear our religion, as they are primarily Goddess oriented and seem to have a problem with this. Our Gods are also not more of a fire or warlike nature as Gods from other pantheons, like the Greek or Roman for example.
It is a shame, that religious freedomw still does not apply to all and minority religions get dumped on all the time. But more shameful it is when other leaders from minority religions have the need to put others down.

Will says:

One thing about all religions is that human sacrifices are in order. From Christianity which has a Father insisting people torture and kill his only Son so he can feel better about people eating a fruit. (Bogus when you read Genesis where the "Sons of God" are fucking human women, although phrased a bit more genteel.). To Islam which has hundreds of thousands of sheep sacrificed each year. (In addition to suicide bombing to please Allah with more death.) To Jehova's Witnesses and other Christian weirdness insisting they wish no blood transfusions or even wish no medical care whatsoever in the case of the joke visited upon mankind called Scientology. It's all ugly. Any person believing in any religion is by definition too fucked up to be considered sane. So, what's wrong with identically moronic and fucked up in the head Norse Gods idiots proclaiming their weirdass shit to be the only valid way to interpret the World? Get real. The USA today is an insane asylum and Obama is is maybe the only one having the guts to ignore all the screeches, threats and shouts and attendant falling poll numbers to try to bring some sanity back into the Country. And as far as Republicans go? No comment, the lunatics run wild unsupervised. Also, it is significant that all these crazed religicos favor the republican World View which is always at odds with decency, honesty and kindness. Also at odds with republicans (The small "r" is not a typo.) is doing any actual military service, but that is another subject. So why are we here? Why do we suffer? Why do we live? The answer is that no one knows and that whoever might have created this World where you have to kill or be a parasite just to eat is seriously demented and the best we can do is to muddle through and be as kind to everything as it is possible for us to be. No religion necessary.

Eric Wolfsbane says:

I've been an Asatruar for almost twenty years now. A couple of years back, I attended one of Halloran's pubmoots. During the event, I had the displeaure of interacting with one of his people, a young man in his twenties who was there with his spouse and their child.

All through the evening he was nattering on about about how the Germans during had the right to want the foreigners in their country, IE the Jews to leave their country. He also was bragging about how one of his relatives had been in the Waffen-Schutzstaffel and died on the eastern front in world war two. He talked at length about wanting to do research about him and his fate.

All during this time, Dan Halloran sat no more than five feet away and said nothing.
I won't say Dan is a racist but if he's willing to tolerate this from his people, it says something about the man.

I don't think anyone should vote against Dan because of his religion. They should however vote against him for his lack of values and his hypocrisy.

As a Theodsman, Dan claims to be reclaiming tribal values. The Republican party is the antithesis of tribal values. The GOP smugly espouses Christianity's social Darwinism. They do everything in their power to avoid their responsibility to the the members of their 'tribe' i.e. the citizens of America.
What does that say about Dan that he's willing to tie his honor to them?

Dan claims to have a special relationship with Tyr, the Aesir's God of justice. The Republican candidate for mayor of this city is running for a third term in defiance of a law passed by the people of this city that prohibits candidates from doing so. Nationally, for the last eight years, his party has systematically broken and ignored both national laws and international ones, which we are signatories to, by the score.

Both by running as a Republican and not speaking out against this, Dan is spitting in the face of the God of justice he claims to be tied to.

I consider him an oath breaker for doing so and I would not want to be in his shoes when Tyr comes calling on him to explain himself.

Honestly, Village Voice, this is beneath you. Sensationalistic crap at its finest, and from a paper that purports to embrace a diversity of people and generally embodies a liberal accepting perspective, except when it comes to Republicans. Very disappointing.
BTW, my politics are very leftist.

Nothing said in this article definitively links Candidate Halloran to any racial-excursionist or hate group. Its no different than linking an openly Muslim candidate to Al Queda just because both fall at different spectrums of the umbrella of Islam. Theodisc belief as practiced by Candidate Halloran, as a sect of the umbrella of Heathen Faiths does not espouse hatred and condemns bigotry.

In fact most American Heathens strongly denounce bigotry. We are not just convicts, but doctors, lawyers, teachers, therapists, librarians, artists, scientists etc... Lots of are multi-racial or have partners and children of more than one background.

Nothing Candidate Halloran has stated in any forum etc positively links him to any racist or prejudiced statements or behavior. Its a tenuous connection at best. Its a reach, and its not true.

In terms of how would this candidate's religious views affect candidacy: Heathen belief teaches connection with nature, so he is likely to be pro-environment. One of the lays of Heathen religious text called the Rigsthula expressly teaches that all people are descended from the divine, regardless their station in life. Living in accordance with Heathen teachings, or 'thew' as understood within the religious community means upholding these values and embracing diversity. Practicing a minority faith, he is also likely to embrace religious freedom, secular values, and room for diverse viewpoints.

Something that Mr Halloran may want to look into. Were the pictures that were taken from your blog used with your permission? Any reasonable Photo editor would not post photos taken by another photographer without getting a signed form.

I highly suggest Mr Halloran and the voice take a good hard look at The photographers legal handbook and remember copyright infringement.

Village Voice, have you sunk so low? Not only is this incredibly poorly researched article deliberately prejudiced against pagans, but there is absolutely no connection between Dan Halloran and nazism stated anywhere in this article, just implied with absolutely no basis. Its manipulative and hateful. Shame on you Village Voice for publishing this tripe.

Reasoning says:

As a Christian I welcome the diversity of faith in the NYC City Council with the potential election of Mr. Halloran. Shame on those who present unfair, biased, outright misinformed lies about any religion. Attend a Roman Catholic or Episcoplian mass - witness a religous figure dressed in medieval garb holding a chalice (not unlike a horn), offering sacrifice(body and blood of Jesus)to confirmed attendees. I think it is equally wonderful our holidays "happen" to fall around the same time (Christmas-Yule; Easter-Ostera).
I wish journalists, mainstream media, and others stop creating walls in our communities; they should build bridges instead.

anti-Catholic too? says:

Is it relevant information to find out that someone running for office was so "anti-Catholic" or "anti-" anything? I, as a voter, want to know. It is upsetting when you hear that Halloran likens a "Christian Baptism" to be a "molestation" and a "treason to the Gods." If he wants others to respect his religion, how about he begin by respecting others (Catholics and Christians) first?

Scott says:

When I read about Dan Halloran's Theod being a supposed "Racist Group" I about laughed myself off my chair.

I am an extremely Tribalist and Folkish Anglo-Saxon heathen.(Sometimes it gets taken as racism but it isn't)

Firstly as far as the heathen community goes, New Normandy falls way left of being Folkish, much less racist.

Now on to a few comments such as the Pub Moots and Nazi's. Pub Moots are Open that means anyone and every on can show up and meet people. It was not Dan's or any one else place to tale some one else how they should speak or how they should believe. If you don't like what some one is saying you simply ignore then or talk until your blue in the face. This is the United States of America and every has that right. I can guarantee you that no political talk even goes on at a faining or a blot as it's not sacred and that breaks thew "Tribal Customs and Taboo's" And regardless of that what one man believes is not for another man to decide, in Theods a man must take an oath to a lord. That does not mean the man can not have is own opinions on things dealing with his life.

I know Homosexuals and Nazi's who show up at the same heathen events and share in worship of the gods, we have something called Frith , which means that during sacred time and in or about sacred space you keep frith "Peace" no matter what. Breaking such to us anyways is the worst thing any person could ever do, the gods, the ancestors what have you would be upset and the entire groups luck would be shot!!!

One does not simply say "Hum I want to be Theodish" It takes years of work and study, and proving or worthing yourself to the members of a Theod before one can even join, and even then you have to swear an Oath to a Lord if any Lord will have you that is!

Your average so called "Nazi" Isn't going to do all of that. If there are any racialist amongst New Normandy they earned there spot there, just the same as the African American folks who went through the same ordeals. But even so each man is allowed his own politics, views etc. That is where Tribalism comes into play it allows the members to decide who and who can not to be apart of the Theod, the fact that there are proved and worthed Non-White members should be enough to be a light build for folks. But then they would actually have to study Theodism some where other then a few quotes New Normandy website, and known Hate groups like the SPLC.

Further more the reason Halleron ran as Republican is because one it's the "closest" thing to our ideology though by a very long stretch. And two because it's a two party system and has been for a very long time.

And to top it all of New Normandy Theod or Halloran himself has White Power thuds running around like the Brown shirts? That is utterly ridiculous to the point of the other candidate has just lost any and all credibility period. I mean Theods hahaha and SKinheads, has the world gone mad lmfao.

Either way you put it this whole article was a roller coaster ride designed to confuse people so much that they either opt out all together, or vote for the other guy so that they will not be viewed as that silly word that people use as a weapon "Racist"

I'd also like to make the point that unlike many Dan as most heathens keep their politics and religions separate, as it's only wise to do so. I Dan has an opinion about something of Christianity he does not bring it to office with him as every one in the heathen community and his professional community all seem to agree.

I'll eat my shirt, my socks, my shoes/ No wait I'll eat the worlds supplies of clothing if Dan Halleron is anything but a tolerant an, an average American who practices a different religion the one of our ancestors to be precise, as well as being a man that is just trying to run for office and make the city a better place.

David Eden Lane says:

Halloran won't even finish one term. One of his followers will do or say something so inflammatory that he will be bounced. Unfortunately for all of you Asatru-worshippers out there, a significant portion of people practicing your religion are, in fact, white racialists, and there is absolutely no denying this fact. Spend some time researching the history of the movement, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, and you will see that this is undeniable. Unfortunately for Halloran, he can try and distance himself from those members all he wants to, but when his political rhetoric includes things like "preservation" and the like, he will be immediately associated with them. Add to this the fact that people within the racialist community are excited about Halloran's election (visit Stormfront and find out), he will not last long.

Rob Taylor says:

Yes yes Racist are absolutely ecstatic by Halloran's win even though his kindred includes minorities. Yet again lefties gnash their teeth when confronted with the reality that all the lies they tell themselves simply aren't true.

I'll bet David Eden Lane an his ilk are more racist than any person affiliated with Halloran. Just as extreme homophobes are hiding something, White folk who see racism everywhere are projecting.

I find this article fascinating and hilarious. It sounds like these people have gone off and are now living out fantasies taken from video games and bad science fiction novels. Are there cults that still worship Zeus and Apollo?

Othr says:

OMG it's DAVID LANE! Now we KNOW there are responsible adults adding to this discussion...

Hi Lisa P. Don't you think it's strange that there are people who worship a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father and can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

And yes, there are Greek reconstructionist pagans, though I don't know how many of them literally believe the old (pre-Christian) tale that Zuess had a son with a mortal. A god having a son through miraculous conception with a mortal woman is just too silly to believe...

Smudge says:

I'm glad Halloran was outted (or came out) about his religion. I don't think one religion is any less crazy than the next. But I find it interesting that Halloran's group has taken the images down. What are they ashamed of?

It made me wonder if these people are what became of those kids who played D&D and joined the SAS in hgh school. What's with the armor and animal skins anyway? If they want to live in the 12th century, I suggest they move to lapland and get off on the internet. You're either in the 21st century, or you're not.

For me the bottom line is actions. You can believe crazy things, but when you act on them, it becomes a problem. If Halloran and his tribe practice animal sacrifice then I say it's time for a good ole-fashioned witch-burning.

Well, maybe there is your answer: people still willing to burn a witch. And they aren't even witches.

Animal sacrifices? You mean like making meat kosher?

You're an ignorant ass.

The photos are taken down because the members want privacy because there are still ignorance asses in the world that would fire them or burn them at the stake.

Christianity is such a peaceful, loving religion, isn't it?

Village Voice and Stormfront are so pathetic. I'm mixed race and I'm met Dan's group before. They are very nice, fun people and would not consider a racist position. If I was certain of my faith right now, I would happily join them.

JamesTheTank says:

There's a lot in this article and the comments to be critical of.

I have issues with sharing Frith with Racist.

The belief that Heathens do not believe in a higher power is evidence of spending time with one type of "Heathen".

A lot of these boys who use W.O.T.A.N. do not in fact believe in a higher power. To say Hail Wotan is to say hail the will of the aryan nation.

I am a Heathen Asatru, and I am not a racist. In fact I would be quicker to call a Wiccan with misconceptions about my faith a friend than a member of my faith who fails to speak out when a "Heathen" starts ranting on about his dead nazi ancestor, his fate, and his "glory".

If a man is evil, say so.
I'm not saying Dan is evil, but sharing Frith with an "all-star" prostitution ring that hails Fenris - that does give me pause.
The failure to confront openly racist "Heathens" who rant on about the "Aryan" race - that does give me pause.

"The Enemy" is not a misinformed Wiccan, it's white nationalist athi-diest who defile the images of the sacred.

They are the motivated minority and we good heathens should draw a hard line and speak out against them. Failure to do so is to endorse their defining of us.

I will always speak out against racism, all the faster when dealing with people who claim to be members of my own faith group.

ALWAYS STRONGER!

"To be a pagan, you have to have faith in a higher power."

Wow! Who put you in charge with an inane comment like that? Stop projecting your own Christian residuals on my practices! Maybe to be a WICCAN... you have to do that but not all pagans are painted with the same brush.

Selena Fox multi racial??? She'd love for everyone to think that. There isn't a race or culture on this planet (or an event or an accomplishment) that Selena Fox hasn't tried to lay some claim to being a part of. She's as white as they come and from a white bread family.

Skrifa Odinson says:

Speaking as a devoted son of Odin, all father of the Norse gods, i would raise sword and spear against ANY white power bullshit carried out in the name of my gods.
For many years, blood was shed under the raven banner in the name of the old gods. our viking forefathers threw their seed amongst dozens of tribes, ranging from the Rus borders of modern day Russia, all throughout Scandinavian countries of Finland, Sweden, Norway, all the way to the shores of Ireland where Dublin was founded, as a Viking settlement.
to say we Heathens, followers of the Norse gods, are racist is down right stupidity. and I'd strike down any man who'd say otherwise

woodworking supplies seattle says:

You may have to have to be careful at what time you will be handling some woodworking tool. Not only can you ruin the woodworking piece but also you would cause oneself certain significant injury. In the event you run their tools with no knowing tips on how to manage these appropriately or if you will be under our influence from alcohol you'll be able to produce oneself a significantly greater issue than a new poor piece associated with furniture. That lessons that you simply take may well teach you some of the precautions which experts claim should exist taken at what time you happen to be handling the kinds of equipment.
