Wikileaks 9/11 Pager Message Dump: Who Was Tapping All Those Messages?

The muckrakers at Wikileaks have unleashed a trove of pager messages from 9/11, allegedly intercepted by "an organization that has been archiving US telecommunications prior to 9/11." (Now, who might that be? We're not the only ones this makes nervous. Some methods for hacking paging systems are discussed here.)

Here's the full index. The half-million-plus messages start at 3 a.m. of September 11 and 24 hours' worth will be dispensed.

Some journalists have confirmed that their authentic messages appear among the leaked data, though there's no way to be sure it's all legit unless someone gets subpoenaed (which isn't out of the question -- as users at Above Top Secret have found, a lot of private information is being disseminated).

Messages range from system outage notifications ("SYM: 30+ users are not able to log into FACS. 2nd level support has been notified") to heartrending pleas ("I am panicking soand will assume you are dead unless I hear from you") to suspicious stuff, about which more in a minute...

Twitter discussion ensues, with quotation of provocative messages ("WTC south tower will collapse in 1 minute"). Some of these may be invented -- it's all coming out too fast to check. At the reddit discussion, some users focus on eerie coincidences around the time of the attacks ("suddenly a lot of people need to take their medications, within a couple of minutes").

Someone has already developed a graphical interface for the messages at 911stories.net, which emphasizes the "you are there" aspect of the transcripts. No doubt some users are willing to experience it this way, though it just makes us sick and sad. As, come to think of us, does the surveillance aspect.

jack davis says:

Notice that all the major paging carriers [much more prevalent then] are among those hacked...metrocall, arch, etc. My guess is this must have come from some central office intercept device much like the Naurus Insight...if you google that or "Room 641A" it gives you the idea of the scope of wiretapping these days.
It is truly sad that personal privacy is, indeed, a thing of the past.
It appears we have become a police state with surveillance just as illegal and corrupt as any communist or socialist regime.
My question is how long will it be before we start barging into peoples homes hauling them away like the Brownshirts did before and during WWII?

gangstalking says:

They don't have to come into our homes to watch us and torture us. Targeted Individuals are living proof that torture, massive surveillance is already happening to innocent citizens. Intelligence agencies are sharing information.

If you have been on the internet for any length of time you have probably heard of a practice being term Gang Stalking, which is like the old Cointelpro program with Stasi tactics thrown in, replete with the Informants and their use of a one handed sign language.

Surveillance is happening on a much wider scale than most even dare to dream or imagine. We are already near to what you have described above.

KSA crew says:

You can go to the bank on the fact that the end is very nigh for 911 liars, stalkers, slanderers.

As for those who say that it's not appropriate to release personal messages that were texted on 911.... People deserve the truth... What is not right [much less appropriate] is the continual lies and slander that has gone on for years.

Karma can be a b!tch. Justice is coming and those who deserve their "just desserts" will be finally getting them.
