Robert Sand, 50, didn't just become America's most deplorable father overnight, it took stubborn determination and dogged non-commitment to neglect and dodge his children for more than a decade -- while racking up a $1.2 million child-support bill.

Sand went the extra mile to be that horrible, and now faces four years behind bars after pleading guilty in federal court in Islip, N.Y. yesterday to two counts of traveling domestically and internationally in efforts to evade child-support payments.

"[T]he defendant has admitted to abandoning his responsibilities to the children he helped bring into this world, and to leaving the country to do so," Loretta Lynch, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of N.Y., said in a statement. "Neither court orders nor the familial bond meant anything to him as he fled to avoid his obligations."

Brett Kanoff

"I miss you so much Cameron daddy loves you with all my heart its not the same with out you baby daddy will always love you till we meet again baby."

That's what 22-year-old Brett Kanoff posted on his Facebook page [all sic] after his 13-month-old son Cameron was pronounced dead last week.

The thing of it is, police say Kanoff is the reason the boy is dead.

According to authorities on Long Island, Kanoff suffocated the boy with a blanket in an effort to get him to stop crying. He then left his dead body in a crib for three hours before he was discovered by a family member.

It's really not that hard. Stupid babies.

For the third time since July, a baby failed to get out of the way of a stray bullet in one of New York's five boroughs -- and since the people of Gotham clearly aren't going to stop shooting each other, we at the Voice feel it's far time that babies take a little initiative here and learn to dodge bullets; if Keanu Reeves can do it, anyone can.

The latest tot to fall victim to gun violence is only 2 months old. Luckily, the boy wasn't seriously injured.

"Tan Mom" Patricia Krentcil's 15 minutes of infamy apparently are not yet up.

Has it been 15 minutes yet?

Patricia Krentcil, who apparently is still quasi-infamous for a variety of reasons -- namely being orange, taking her 5-year-old daughter to a tanning salon earlier this year, and then calling critics "fat and ugly" -- was the sideshow at a drag show called "Tan Mom at Hot Mess," at the XL Club on West 42nd Street last night.

As if anything less was to be expected, "Tan Mom" got wasted and made a complete ass of herself -- and it was all caught on video.

Krentcil apparently was falling all over the red carpet on her way into the venue, and then tried to attack one of the drag queens. She was then thrown out -- but not before declaring her innocence to the room full of queens.

"I didn't put my kid in a tanning bed," she slurred when asked if she wanted a drink.

Chevonne Thomas cut off her baby's head before fatally stabbing herself in the throat last week.

Last week we told you about a New Jersey woman who decapitated her 2-year-old son before fatally stabbing herself in the neck -- and today the story got even more horrifying.

Authorities in Camden announced that autopsy results show that not only was the boy decapitated, but he was still alive when his mother, 33-year-old Chevonne Thomas, cut off his head. After decapitating the boy, Thomas put his tiny head in the freezer before calling 9-1-1 (see the transcript of the 9-1-1 call after the jump) and then killing herself.

Police found Thomas' body early Wednesday morning in the townhouse she shared with her son, Zahree. They also found Zahree's body on the first floor of the home -- as we mentioned, his head was in the freezer.

The part of the story that has people the most furious is the fact that Thomas had just regained custody of the boy five months ago, after New Jersey's Department of Children and Families had removed Zahree from his mother's care when she got busted smoking PCP in a park and leaving him unattended in a car as she passed out on a sidewalk.

Here's a pretty gruesome horror story for a Thursday morning:

Police in Camden, New Jersey found the body of Chevonne Thomas in the townhouse she shared with her 2-year-old son. Thomas apparently stabbed herself in the neck -- but only after decapitating her son, whose body also was found in the home.

The kicker: Thomas had just regained custody of the boy five months ago, after New Jersey's Department of Children and Families had removed 2-year-old Zahree Thomas from his mother's care when she got busted smoking PCP in a park and leaving him unattended in a car.

The 2010 drug charges against Thomas ultimately were dropped because of a problem with a witness -- but the boy remained in DCF custody.

When parents kill their own kids, oftentimes it's because the baby is crying uncontrollably and it's an act of sheer frustration, not of pure evil. That's not what happened in the case of 31-year-old Lawrence Johnson, a genuine shit-bag who beat his 3-month-old daughter to death as she slept.

Johnson was in a Bronx courtroom today, where State Supreme Court Justice Peter Benitez sentenced him to 25 years to life in prison for the 2006 murder of his daughter, Jayla Omari Mystique Johnson.

Johnson, who has a history of domestic violence and had been absent without leave from the United States Army for more than two years at the time of the murder -- was found guilty in February of one count of second-degree murder.

Afriiyie Gaspard, seen here with one of her children she didn't strangle to death, isn't working at the moment so she can be a "stay at home mom."

A two-year-old Queens boy was "screaming, crying, and kicking" over the weekend. So his mother strangled him to death, according to authorities.

Afriyie Gaspard, 29, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in the August 10 death of her son, Izavah Hall.

Prosecutors say that about 3:30 p.m. on the aforementioned date, the boy was throwing a bit of a tantrum at Gaspard's apartment at 155-14 Jewel Avenue in Queens. To get him to stop, Gaspard allegedly "put both hands around her son's neck and squeezed his neck for approximately one minute until he stopped crying."

Gaspard later told police the boy then fell to the floor and started gasping for air. She then picked him up off the floor -- saw his eyes "wide open" -- and "roughly" put him down on his bed.

Kadian Gilzeane is accused of murdering her newborn son.

When doctors noticed a Mt. Vernon woman was no longer pregnant, she told them she had a miscarriage. Her claim was determined to be a load of crap when police discovered a dead baby boy in her apartment.

On August 3, following her claim of a miscarriage, doctors examined 27-year-old Kadian Gilzeane and determined that she'd actually given birth.

Doctors called police, who searched Gilzeane's apartment, which is where they found the dead baby wrapped in plastic.

Patricia Krentcil no longer looks like a pumpkin, which has her feeling "weird and pale."

The New Jersey mom who allegedly took her 5-year-old daughter tanning -- and later was dubbed "Tan Mom" due to her tangerine tint -- hasn't gone tanning in weeks. Now she feels "pale and weird."

Poor thing...

Despite declaring that the second-degree child endangerment charge against her wouldn't stifle her daily tanning "errand," Patricia Krentcil has abstained from hitting the tanning bed for a month, and recently showed off her new, ivory look to InTouch magazine, which apparently didn't get the memo that this woman's 15 minutes expired about two months ago.
