Google Launching Facebook Killer "Google Me"; Facebook Movie Trailer Hits YouTube
Maybe I'm just not up on the lingo of the tech world, but why is a new product always set up to "kill" an existing product? Aren't these unrealistically lofty expectations, especially when the thing you're trying to "kill" -- in this case Facebook -- has nearly half a billion users worldwide? Tech genocide? Eek. Anyway, that's the Sunday afternoon rumor, courtesy of Digg founder Kevin Rose, who tweeted, "Ok, umm, huge rumor: Google to launch facebook competitor very soon "Google Me", very credible source." Huffington Post, of course, already has the news up --
calling Rose "The Snitch" first posted on SF Weekly's The Snitch -- because they've developed that chip which they secretly insert in everyone on the internet's heads and by the time you have a thought, it's already aggregated with an SEO-optimized headline. Cool, right?
