Howard Kurtz Correction Is a Journalism Gift That Keeps On Giving

​Howard Kurtz is a middling, moderate media critic -- one of many of the same kind of white male eggheads -- who frequently gets singled out and faulted for being an especially unconvincing type of navel-gazing, insider asshole. That's why much of the admittedly tiny circle of media-obsessed internet was riotous with schadenfreude when it came out that Kurtz not only made a mistake -- we all do -- but an especially embarrassing one that undermined an entire article. In fact, it's probably his biggest story since Kurtz's joined Tina Brown's Daily Beast, and though the actual error occurred waaaay back in November, it's not going away yet. That's due to both Kurtz's odd cover-up and one reporter's crusade.

Exclusive: Further Legal Troubles Rumored for Gawker

​The battle between New York-based blog network Gawker Media and Apple over an exposed iPhone prototype is far from over, having made The Daily Show last night. Looks like they're going to have more legal troubles on their hands, however -- though not from Apple this time. We hear that there are other media companies considering legal action involving a Gawker.com story started by one of their recently departed bloggers.

Alleged Dirty Crook, Poor Tipper Pedro Espada, Jr. Didn't Do It, Says Facebook

​State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. is in a fair amount of shit. It seems New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo has it out for him, or at least has it out for politicians who brazenly break the law and shadily shuffle around big dollar amounts like they're the villain in a comic book. Because that's Espada's style, according to a new lawsuit that alleges millions of dollars in misappropriated funds and a host of other offenses. Worst of all, he doesn't tip well.

Some diligent reporting (and Facebook stalking) by Runnin' Scared's down and dirty ally Hunter Walker runs down the case and Espada's defense, which unfortunately starts on social network.

Breaking: Malcolm X's Killer Paroled, is a Free Man Next Month

​Thomas Hagan, the only man who ever admitted involvement in the assassination of Malcolm X, will be getting out of jail next month. Hagan was granted parole on March 3rd and is scheduled to be released on April 28th.
