Bobby Jindal Slams Barack Obama's Record on Lemonade Stands

256px-Lemon_with_white_background.jpg
This just in: Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has called into question Barack Obama's history with lemonade stands.

Jindal, a Republican and potential running mate for Mitt Romney, said Tuesday morning on Fox News's America's Newsroom that Obama: "hasn't run anything before he was elected President of the United States...never ran a state, never a business, never ran a lemonade stand." Jindal's criticism echoes that of Ted Nugent, who also argued in June 2011 that Obama couldn't sell the popular, citrusy drink.

Indeed, details about Obama's background with lemonade -- via stand or otherwise -- remain unclear, though evidence suggests that the president's backers have in fact used this summery, semisweet beverage during campaign fundraising.

Is Barack Obama Too Cool?

320px-Prestige-sunglasses.JPG.jpeg
An example of "cool."
Yesterday, the Voice brought you some sad-making news: rather than give us meaningful material on which to base our votes, Barack Obama will probably serenade us with more slow-jams and Mitt Romney will keep acting like he has never had fun in his life. Ever.

So it goes in American politics (who expects, like, answers and stuff?), but the Washington Post has been arguing that Mitt's seriousness might work to his advantage -- especially among the nation's youth.

Becket Fund for Religious Liberty Fights Obama's Birth Control Mandate in New York

MOLITVA.JPG.jpeg
Uproar over Barack Obama's Health and Human Services mandate, which basically requires that insurers provide contraception, has hardly come to an end, and a major pro-religion advocacy group has taken the battle against the birth control clause to court.

This law firm, the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, is also hosting a rally today at the Federal Hall National Memorial, located at 26 Wall Street.

The Washington, D.C.-based organization has organized before upcoming arguments over Obamacare in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Republican National Committee Calls Barack Obama 'Awkward' in New YouTube Smear

Barack Obama spent some time chatting with Joe and Jane six-packs in his Google+ Hangout yesterday afternoon, where he made clear that college is important (as long as you don't pay to study the liberal arts) and that drone planes are totally BMFs.

During this exchange, a Texas woman mentioned her unemployed, college-educated, semiconductor-engineer husband, and wanted to know why Obama allowed the H1 work visa program -- which helps foreigners! -- when Amuricans couldn't get jobs.

Obama said that engineering posts are, in fact, available in the U.S. and asked the woman to send him her husband's C.V. (This was either a shameless 'I'm-for-the-everyman'-P.R. stunt or the best resume boost EVER. Imagine this guy's "references" page!)

Barack Obama Takes Over the Internet, Runnin' Scared Live Blogs the Prez's Video Stream

20120130_hangout_blogpost.jpg
In what looks like an attempt to win "cool" points with many of the young, tech-savvy voters he has pissed off during his presidency, Barack Obama is hosting a Google+ Hangout this afternoon, where he'll answer a few not-at-all cherry-picked questions via live video stream. (We hope a lot of questions turn out to be about weed, like they have been at YouTube-based Town Hall events.)

Runnin' Scared has decided to live blog the "first completely-virtual interview," which has basically been interpreted by the press corps as a giant "fuck you" from the White House.

So . . . enjoy!

Obama in City Tonight, Don't Bother Leaving Your Office or Apartment

barack_obama-thumb-200x150.jpg
The President is coming to town to fundraise this evening, so plan on being stuck wherever you are right now (sucks if you're at work), since commuting is kinda impossible when Obama visits.

Bus routes have been already changed, an MTA spokeswoman tells Runnin' Scared. Nothing has been said about Obama-related subway delays so far, but if his previous visits can be any indication, subways might be sluggish timesucks if operational.

Michelle Obama Celebrates Birthday -- Will She Get a Gift Certificate?

obama birthdayVIC.jpg
Barack Obama wants you to help his FLOTUS -- First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama, that is -- celebrate her 48th birthday today, sending out an e-mail last week that encouraged campaign supporters to sign a card. (He's just a really thoughtful husband and father and stuff, being the president and all but still finding time to get millions of people he's never met to give his wife well wishes from a fundraising e-mail address.)

And Jill Biden, wife of Joe Biden, also just sent out an e-mail today, trying to corral all the stragglers who didn't sign Michelle's e-card to do so now.

Somewhat sadly, both cards suggest that the Michelle will have 365 days of suck to come before her 49th birthday, which seems like a bit of a buzz kill.

Cuomo Might Call for Cuts in Tuesday's Budget Proposal

andrew_cuomo.jpg
Gov. Andrew Cuomo isn't releasing his 2012-2013 budget proposal until Tuesday, but early reports suggest more cuts are on their way, The Associated Press reports (via Wall Street Journal).

Because Cuomo has to address a $2 billion shortfall -- and has promised no additional taxes -- this means that he will probably push for additional belt-tightening, Reuters notes.

Obama a "Mouthpiece" For Racist American Policy, City Councilman Charles Barron Says

Barron.jpg
Well, we guess the era of good feelings between President Barack Obama and City Councilman Charles Barron is officially over.

Barron, a Brooklyn councilman not known for subtlety, recently accused Obama of being a "mouthpiece for a racist, imperialistic American foreign policy controlled by generals and corporate elites." He was referring of course to the bombing of Libya, which he says is about "oil and power, not saving people. It's about maximizing profits."

Barron also accused the president of attending a $30,000 a plate fundraiser in Harlem without actually talking with any regular folks. "This was the president's first visit to Harlem since he was elected," Barron wrote. "Shame on him!"
