Diane Keaton On Colbert Last Night: Was She Being Annie Hall, Kay Adams-Corleone, Or Just Plain Nuts?

Twitter was abuzz last night about Diane Keaton's appearance on the Colbert Report, with people wondering if the Annie Hall and Godfather star was drunk, high, or just plain nuts. Watching it, we wondered if Keaton was trying to out-Colbert Colbert in the performance art arena. Still, whatever she was doing didn't seem to help the cause of peddling her book, which was why she was ostensibly booked on the show. It's obvious Colbert isn't comfortable with what's happening; watch for yourself and decide what was going through Keaton's mind. We certainly found it to be the most awkward interview with a 70s star since Leonard Lopate suffered through a half hour on the air with Liza Minelli. More >>

The Creator Of The Save Sue Simmons! Tumblr Explains His Campaign, Affection For Sue

suesimmons.jpg
This week New Yorkers learned that beloved foul-mouthed WNBC anchor Sue Simmons' contract would not be renewed. Now the whisperings as to who is going to be taking her place are already starting. But the reaction to the news of Simmons' impending departure was impassioned. The Times even chronicled the Twitterverse's cries. Our very own Michael Musto explained
his adoration on his blog. From celebrity anguish -- Martha Plimpton! Alec Baldwin! -- to good old-fashioned internet crusading a chorus rang out condemning NBC for giving up an icon. We emailed some questions to the man behind the Save Sue Simmons! Tumblr -- 26-year-old New York native and Columbia graduate student Ryder Kessler -- to hear why he took to the web to fight for Simmons. Read his responses after the jump.

Mike Bloomberg Hangs With 'Gossip Girl' Cast

bloomberg gossip girl.JPG
Sam Levin
Yep, that's right, folks. Mayor Mike Bloomberg's press conference today was about Gossip Girl. The Lady Gaga-kisser upped his celebrity status by standing beside members of the cast and creative team of the television show at Queen's Silvercup Studios.

Also beside him were a host of Queens electeds who wanted in on the fun (State Senator Michael Gianaris, Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan and Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer), next to stars Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Kaylee DeFer, and Kelly Rutherford. You could say it was an eclectic bunch. And an eclectic group on camera means an eclectic audience. That's right, politics reporters rubbed elbows with the paparazzi! (Runnin' Scared first stood awkwardly in the crowd of entertainment photogs -- and then, feeling out of place, rushed to some seats in the front where the, uh, regular guys were seated).

Ron Paul to Jay Leno: Michele Bachmann 'Hates' Muslims

ron paul.jpg
Last night, Ron Paul was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno promoting his new romantic comedy Unfair Trade, in which he plays a Libertarian Congressman who won't settle for anyone less than Ayn Rand (played by Katherine Heigl). He's also running for president, so Leno decided to ask him some questions about his fellow GOP candidates. What ensued is a preview of your Christmas dinner: Your lovable curmudgeon of a great uncle loosens up and everyone starts to pepper him with questions just to hear the zany, off-the-cuff responses he comes up with. Before long, he's accusing Aunt Gwen of hating Muslims and dad has to drive him back to the home. Take a look after the jump.

Blake Lively and Leighton Meester filming 'Gossip Girl' on the LES yesterday.
Craigslist Missed Connections have been good lately! A few weeks ago we had the man who posted an epic missed connection for the girl who held his iPhone hostage, and now we have the poor young startup employee who is hopelessly in love with one of the stars of "Gossip Girl." The show has been filming on the Lower East Side, where the young man first looked out his office window and laid eyes on the "beautiful brunette star," Leighton Meester.

Fauxcotti Park: OWS Visits Law & Order: SVU's Mock Zuccotti Park

The Law & Order: SVU fake Zuccotti set.
Zuccotti Park was cleared by police over three weeks ago now, but the encampment was resurrected for a brief moment in Foley Square yesterday. Tents, tarps, signs, a library, even a kitchen fully stocked with food -- all the familiar objects were there playing the part of ZP for an episode of Law & Order: SVU that will deal with Occupy Wall Street. Around 75 protesters paid the meta-park a visit last night at midnight and explored, eating food from the kitchen and roaming through the tiny tent city. They were accompanied by dozens of cops, who eventually announced that the set was being shut down and that anyone who stayed there after a certain point would be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Everyone left quickly, seeming to agree with one man who yelled "there's no reason to get arrested for dumb shit."

Before that, though, it was quite the party.

Occupy Wall Street Buys Television Ad Spots

Insert "the revolution will not be televised" joke here. This Occupy Wall Street ad, which first surfaced a few weeks ago and is the work of David Sauvage, has appeared widely this weekend on ESPN, CBS, and Fox News (heh), among others. The ad was funded via Loudsauce, which is a kind of Kickstarter for media projects.
