Police Officer, On Duty, Caught In Steamy Phone Sex Session

Occasionally, us local reporters here at the Voice like to stray from the confines of the Big Apple to bring you the truly bizarre. Here, in another installment, we bring you the Santa Fe, N.M. cop who forgot his dashboard camera/recorder was on while he engaged in a steamy phone call with a woman.

That's one big oops. It allowed a local media outlet to use the priceless headline: "Police Officer Caught Masturbating While On Duty." He actually says, "Show me those big, beautiful breasts, baby."

Stealing from Non-Profits Is the Hottest New Trend

GRINCHYO!!!.jpg
Looks like the hip thing to do is to make non-profits even less profitable.

For the third time in a week, a New Yorker has been accused of illegally pocketing megabucks from a non-profit.

The Manhattan District Attorney says that Jeffrey Bernstein swindled more than $2,500,000 from the Albert Ellis Institute, a psychotherapy charity, between January 2010 and February 2011.

Bernstein, 62, worked as director of administration at the org, which offered affordable therapy to the public.

The D.A. indicted Bernstein today, claiming that he conned the group out of money by sending some 80 unauthorized wire transfers to his own business accounts.

Americans Are Cool, Says World's Coolest Poll

Just a couple of Cool-mericans.
Have you heard of Badoo? It's "the world's largest social network," and though we don't talk about it too terribly much in America, because we are too cool for such things, it is talking about us! According to a recent online poll on Badoo.com, in which 30,000 people were asked to vote for the world's "coolest nationality," Americans were the coolest! Yay, us. Oh, actually, whatever. We're too cool to care.

Hermon Raju, 'Well-Educated' Metro-North Lady, Compares Internet Mockery to Rape

Screen shot 2011-07-18 at 2.51.38 PM.png
The New York University graduate who berated a Metro-North conductor for simply asking her to quiet down and quit using foul language is seeking PR help, but Hermon Raju's letter requesting image assistance, as obtained by the Daily News' Gatecrasher, only makes her look worse. Predictably, she claims there's "a lot more to the story" than what the video shows and admits she was advised "not to speak to the media." That would've been smart. Instead, her letter to a PR firm was leaked and is probably more offensive than her initial temper tantrum: "I can honestly say I feel raped by the Internet," she wrote, cluelessly.

Go crazy!
In sort of hilarious news, a Park Slope Food Co-op member antsy to get home to see Castle (yeah, maybe we love that show, too, or maybe we don't -- you're never getting it out of us no matter how hard you try) locked up early, leaving three co-workers trapped inside, reports the New York Post. Fortunately, they had their wits about them enough to call 9-1-1 (perhaps they DVR?), and firefighters freed them by cutting off the lock on the door.
