This afternoon at 5 p.m., a party for the Occupy Wall Street movement will start in Times Square. Like any good party, this one has a website, Twitter account, and Shepard Fairey-designed invitation. The instructions are laid out at the aforementioned website: "Meet at the TKTS kiosk in the north section. From our street carnival in Times Sq. we will take the protest party to the trains and head downtown." The organizers are throwing this bash to show support for the Occupy protests around the world, so if you have been sitting on the fence about the evils of global capitalism, waiting for a party to convince you on what side to choose, now is your chance. We bet there will be drums!

This Sunday, from from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Holley Plaza in Washington Square Park will be the site of an actual duel, hosted by the Martinez Academy of Arms. Along with a demonstration of the older methods of swordsmanship, observers will get facts, stories and anecdotes about the history of dueling in New York City. (Apparently this is the first time there will have been a duel in Washington Square Park in 100 years.) Maestros Ramon Martinez and Jeannette Acosta-Martinez, as well as staff Instructor Jared Kirby, Saga Krishnaraj, Keena Suh, and Lou Costa will be there to demonstrate.

On Saturday, September 24, there will be an epic event in Washington Square Park, a night to remember, Jedi vs. Sith, hands aglow with lightsabers, battling to the pain or to whatever one battles to with a lightsaber. The brains behind Lightsaber Battle 2011, Kevin Bracken and Lori Kufner of Newmindspace, are known for their hosting of giant, free events in cities, like, for instance, pillow fights in Union Square. This one, too, is free, but for the cost of a $5 lightsaber, which you know you want, and can reserve here. (If you already have a lightsaber, feel free to bring it. We will not judge you.)
