Not exactly what's happening.

​Guys: This is not normal heat. This is heat of another sort, powerful, malevolent heat that hopes to overtake America in a "claustrophobia-inducing greenhouse of heat and sadness." Seriously, this is a real thing, a 1 million square-mile high-pressure system hanging over most of America. This is why you can't breathe, your contacts are foggy, your sweat is dripping through your clothes, and some guy just looked at you funny when you tried to wipe your face with his T-shirt. Some 141 million people in 32 states are in this heat dome (New Yorkers included). 22 people have died of it in the U.S. as of yesterday. This is not a friendly heat. This is a heat dome.

​The Village Voice's story of Debrahlee Lorenzana, the banker too hot for her job at Citibank, penned in June by Elizabeth Dwoskin, still has legs. The media went wild for the tale when it broke -- and the pictures didn't hurt -- but months later, after Facebook groups, TV appearances and more, Lorenzana is back in the press this Sunday, telling the Daily News that she does not want to be famous. Too late maybe?

Carlo Romero, the Stirrings competition winner

​Stirrings, a brand of natural bar ingredients that, yeah, you've probably never heard of until now, held a competition for a new brand ambassador/official bartender today at the Time Warner Center. Six shirtless (but apron-clad) finalists competed behind a makeshift bar to impress judges with their charm and skill -- an excellent marketing strategy of eye candy/brand association, as far as we're concerned.
