The 2010 Media Holiday Party Circuit Crash-Map

2007_05_tao_lin-thumb-200x161.jpg
For my second-to-last Press Clips, Day 27, we have a very, very special treat. Every year, many of the New York-based media companies who produce a large portion of American media that is consumed across the country gather after months of conspiring...to get shitface drunk. Behold:More >>

Danielle Staub, Real Housewife of New Jersey: You're Fired!

Danielle-Staub.jpg
Is this a Garden State setback? Apparently, Danielle Staub -- who's one of the peoplecreatures Bravo turned their cameras on for the Cloverfield-esque faux-terroreality television program The Real Housewives of New Jersey -- has been fired, and according to the NY Daily News, is shocked -- shocked! -- at being canned.

Just as you probably could have guessed, of the various iterations of Bravo's brainsucky Real Housewives series -- which includes New York, Orange County, Atlanta, and soon, D.C. -- it was New Jersey which has now produced the most authentic "Real Housewife" of them all: Danielle Staub, who's a divorcee with a fake name, eight felony counts and a plea deal, a past as a hooker, and now, a sex tape scandal that is apparently of her own making.

The World Wide Web breaks new ground in the innovation of insipid things daily, today is apparently no exception. A Twitter account of "Gary Coleman's Ghost" is now up and running. Maybe now he can finally get around to responding to all that correspondence. Related: People are awful, and the concept of "Too Soon" is losing ground by the day. [FEK]

Ever hear about this show The First 48? It's on A&E, and the premise of the show is that the first 48 hours of a crime are of the utmost importance to solving the case, after which it becomes impossible, or something. It's pretty compelling television! But like all TV shows involving police -- like Cops, for example -- it may very well exacerbate some of their more flamboyant behavior on the job because cameras are there. Which might explain why a seven-year-old girl died during a raid that was filmed by the show's cameras.

Gawker Writer Engages Intellectual Terrorist and Misanthrope Commentator Andrew Breitbart, Re: Lady Gaga

andrew-breitbart.jpg
This is amazing. You have to give professional shoutcreature and Matt-Drudge-lackee-turned-Dark-Sith-of-Conservative-Thought, Andrew Breitbart, credit where it's due: he has a sense of humor. Also, he will dignify the issues he sees as important. Matt Cherette -- who spends his days at Gawker.TV writing about what Geighs the Brothers Jonas are -- also has a sense of humor, and dignifies the issues he sees as important. Is the collision of the two inevitable, or anything but? Well, it's happened, and this isn't even the first time. Though today...was something else.
