Westboro Baptist Church Will Also Picket Gawker, Buzzfeed, Foursquare, Basically Everybody Else

A fuzzy kitten pile: the direct opposite of the Westboro Baptist Church.
Last week, we told you that the Westboro Baptist Church, a merry band of noxious trolls with questionable ties to Jesus, is returning to New York to picket the New York Times, Facebook, the Huffington Post, and the 9/11 Memorial Museum. It appears that the WBC has realized that picketing media outlets is a good way to get attention: they've added a couple dozen other websites, publishing companies and tech ventures to their picket schedule. This is probably our fault. Sorry, everyone. Sorry.

The Westboro Baptist Church Is Coming Back to New York to Picket the Media, the 9/11 Museum and "FaceBook"

We have lots of photos of the Westboro Baptist Church. We just decided you might rather look at some fuzzy kittens.
The Westboro Baptist Church will return to New York City in September as part of an ongoing bid to troll the universe and fill their days with some semblance of meaning. According to their picket schedule, the protest- and lawsuit-happy church/hate group is in Missouri this week to picket the funeral of Mike Brown, the Ferguson teenager recently slain by police officer Darren Wilson. But after that, to coincide with the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, they'll be heading this way. They've got quite the itinerary planned.

The Westboro Baptist Church Is Coming to New York To Yell About Duck Dynasty, St. Patrick's Cathedral

A WBC member parodies Duck Dynasty.
It's been a little while since the Westboro Baptist Church made it all the way up to New York. The Topeka-based church/family/professional lawsuit-filing operation has been busy elsewhere, picketing funerals, football games, and whatever else might give them two seconds of attention from the larger culture. One of the last times they were in New York was to picket an LGBT synagogue in 2011, thus wiping both gays and Jews from the face of the city. (Our office has been very quiet ever since.) They came back later that year to protest same-sex marriage, another social movement that just hasn't picked up any steam.

But it appears the church has been drawn northwards once again by the Duck Dynasty debacle. After Phil Robertson, the star of the "reality" show, was briefly suspended last week for telling GQ that homosexuals are "illogical" and black folks were "singing and happy" during the Jim Crow era, Westboro stepped up to show their confusing, hate-tinged brand of support.

Manny Pacquiao's Gay Marriage Stance Is Based On The Same Biblical BS That Inspires The Westboro Baptist Idiots

No, I did not write the Bible.
Filipino boxer/congressman/Roman Catholic Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's idiotic comments about why he opposes gay marriage are based on the same Biblical bullshit that inspires the lunatics at the Westboro Baptist Church to picket funerals. The overall theme: "fags" must die.

If you missed it, in response to President Barack Obama's announcement that he now "personally" supports gay marriage, Pacquiao told the National Conservative Examiner that he doesn't agree with the president. He then cited Leviticus 20:13, telling the publication that "if a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads" (see our post about 10 gays who could kick Manny's ass here).

We'd like to think "Pacman's" a slightly better human being than the WBC bozos, but his comments literally parrot the general message of Fred Phelps and his clan of kooks -- the WBC's web address is www.GodHatesFags.com, just to give you a small example.

Westboro Baptist Says They'll Protest Fashion Week

Tired, perhaps, of protesting gay marriage, as well as the funerals of soldiers, people who have died from AIDs, and little girls, Westboro Baptist Church, the hate-based Kansas "religious" sect focused on protesting tragedies or equal rights in order to make people really mad -- so that they can then sue if and when those people get angry and attempt to retaliate physically (note: don't do this, they want you to) -- is now protesting...Fashion Week. Which is just so weird, and, in some ways, once you get beyond the hate-mongering, kind of hilarious. The stuff of good cinema, at the very least.

Westboro Baptist Church Threatens to Picket Norway Funerals

The Westboro Baptist Church, the Kansas-based organization that spends its days picketing the funerals of soldiers and insisting that "God Hates Fags," has released a statement saying that it plans to protest the funerals of those killed in the July attacks in Norway.

Westboro Baptist Church Loses, New York Wins

I'm not a position to mock the many reporters who lined up to spend a few minutes with Margie Phelps and the four other unpleasant Westboro Baptist Church members who flew up from Kansas to spend their Sunday shouting slurs at same-sex New York couples.

After all, I spent hours with these attention-craving cultists, trailing them by train as they drove from Manhattan to Brooklyn to the Bronx and back to Manhattan. The trade for many reporters is that you give the church free press in exchange for a "shocking" bit of dialogue to drive ratings or traffic. After half an hour the group's tape had already began to loop, as members began recycling their meager store of stock quotes.

Westboro Baptist Church Coming to New York Sunday to Protest Same-Sex Marriage

God Hates Fags.png
Yesterday, we wrote about how NOM will be protesting same-sex marriage through the state on Sunday, but at locations which appear to be keeping their distance from actual weddings. However, according to a schedule posted on godhatesfags.com, the Westboro Baptist Church will also be picketing the first day of same-sex marriage, but will be doing so right in the faces of same-sex couples.

Their schedule is after the jump.

Westboro Baptist Church Says They'll Picket Liz Taylor's Funeral

Thumbnail image for liz-taylor1.jpg
This should come as a surprise to no one, because this is exactly what Westboro Church does, and then we all get angry, and then they laugh, maniacally, from somewhere inside their alien life forms that are filled with twisty, mean tornado clouds and spiky sharp fingernails instead of hearts and souls, but, well, Westboro Church has taken to Twitter to announce they'll be picketing Elizabeth Taylor's funeral "all because Liz was apparently some sort of gay 'enabler' and (God forbid) an AIDS activist," says TMZ.

Westboro Baptist Church Says Obama, SCOTUS Going to Hell

Westboro Baptist Church to Obama and the Supreme Court: "You're going to hell." Well, not in so many words. What Westboro lawyer Margi Phelps said was that she had "no objective indicator otherwise" that the nine judges of SCOTUS are not going to hell. As for Obama, he is "most likely the beast spoken of in the Revelation." WBC is so predictable. Excuse me while I fail to be shocked by this one.

Also, guys, the Supreme Court just ruled that by dint of the First Amendment, you can continue your hateful funeral protests. Way to show your gratitude.
