'Rolling Stone' Reality Star Disses Show

You knew this was coming. Colin Stutz, the shaggy-haired indie rock reporter on the MTV reality show I'm From Rolling Stone, hankers to bite the hand that feeds (he's the rightmost person in the photo above). In the newspaper of the University of Southern California, where Stutz is currently a student, he admits: "There were days where I would hide my face from the cameras, thinking to myself, 'This is going to ruin my life.'" (Stutz also talks about it on the website bookmobile.net.)

But the question becomes, if you feared you were going to be a caricature, why do it? Granted, it's near impossible to break into journalism/music internships without the lofty college network or the resume-pass via friends. On the other hand, somebody needed to spend less time philosophizing about the Corporate Machine and more time watching Maui Fever to see how this was going to play out.
